Winter skating in whistler
« on: November 14, 2021, 08:00:40 PM »
I'm in Whistler, BC working for the winter and was wondering how skating in the winter is. What's the curb situation like?
Any parking garages where I won't get hassled? What's up with the sk8 cave? Is the whistler park usually dry? I'm trying to take it easy after my ankle surgery and I really don't wanna snowboard unless it's my last choice.

Probably bad? I lived there awhile back. It snows regularity so the park would need to be shoveled. They also use salt liberally so expect to sweep. I don’t really remember there being underground parking lots that are public. Maybe some of the hotels have lots but I’d assume that’s a bust.

I think most people there would rather be snowboarding than skating.

You’d probably be better off taking the bus to Vancouver if you’re looking to skate for the day.

There's an indoor ramp at air house?  There's next to nothing to skate indoors in Vancouver....I suspect the parking garage set up is poor....I'm guessing someone has an indoor mini in Pembie or Squamish....but you and I will never skate it....

Whistler park usually stays pretty covered in snow once winter kicks in.

The conference centre and library have underground parking garages, but I've never checked them out. Considering how on top of Whistler is with their parking enforcement, I'd assume the same could be said for garage security.

there are some nice curbs and ledges underneath the grocery store and all that in creekside. worth checking out for sure.

if you feel like driving to Lynn Valley to skate a flatbar on its lowest setting possible, send me a pm.
