For real. He’s clearly smart and is making the most of his success. What he says about people making $150k and spending $100k is pretty accurate and he’s probably seen many people around him make those mistakes.

I wonder how involved he is with his sponsors? He strikes me as someone who would be asking questions and attending marketing meetings around his shoe launches, learning as much as he can then applying it to his own projects.

this was nice, I remember seeing an interview years back where he was all "if I see a lambo in the street; that's motivation to land a trick", which left a bit of a bad taste. Still the embodyment of the American Dream I guess, with all its pitfalls and downsides. But you can't fault a person for complying to and trying his best in a system he lives in.
Power to him and hope he continues groeing. His mom must be proud.

I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve what he has but I’m not buying the whole humble, nose to the grindstone, schtick he puts on. If I had every high fashion brand throwing money at me I’d probably get a financial advisor and make some moves too.

Agree fully and he should be proud, but personally financial/entrepreneur 101 talk never gets me stoked or inspired, like at all. I’m not rich and I’m not poor I have some nice things that I thought would bring me happiness which was not the case at all. Not to say I want to go back to being poor but there is more to life than money.

So the dude who notoriously didn’t come from money is just somehow ‘stinkin rich’ and you ‘don’t buy his nose to the grindstone schtick’. Once you allow yourself to see past your envy, hopefully you can be happy for the kid. He grafted to become great at skateboarding (won soty at 19!), marketed himself well and used that as a starting block in life. It’s pretty epic no?
