Snowskate help

I messed up and didn't buy an Ambition last year, and now I can't find them anywhere. I definitely want one with concave for flip tricks. If any of you guys are into this shit and can help me find and pick out a good board/gear I'd appreciate it.

Are these the consensus best model to get? Been wanting to buy one. The ones with the mini snowboard underneath always worked the best when I would play around with them as a kid

I have an ambition and also this one which is awesome and carves like trucks turn. It’s way better than the old bi level decks, and you don’t need the extreme grip with it either because the foam they use grips perfect:

The s as mbition is also fun, but seriously consider the slope deck as well.

Damn! $170!? I’m sure they’re quality but that’s more than I expected. Do they Ollie and flip pretty similar to skateboards?

Hovland!

https://www.fancyladskateboards.com/products/pre-order-fancy-lad-x-hovland-snowskate

You can even get a Fancy Lad/Hovland deck. If I still lived in a snowy climate I’d get either an Ambition or Hovland

The year I got one, I think it was half off after Xmas. They do Ollie and flip similar to a skateboard, but the best part is the carve down the hill. On this, it feels Luke you have trucks and you can actually swerve back and forth, my favorite bill has a little drainage ditch area at the bottom and I can easily carve into big spins etc.
The ambitions do not have this carve ability.
But I’m gonna take back my initial comments and say if it’s your first board, the ambition is probably your best bet. That way you can slide it on rails and stuff.

Do most ski hills let people fuck around on them? Where I’m at in Ohio we don’t get a ton of snow, but there’s a nearby skill hill that is fun to dork around on

I live next to a big ski resort and I heard rumors that they said they would allow them if they were tethered. I'm not interested in that, I think crusty street spots would be real fun for these things. Yesterday I actually found a place in my state that has the Ambition Jib series. Puff and GBlange found me shops that have the better but more expensive ones. I gotta make my mind up before they are gone. Thank you all for the help

The best part of snow skating is  it having to go to the ski resort. Most of my friends have given up on snowboarding and just mess around on these. It feels great to have your heart pumping in the winter and the lack of a lift gets you moving non stop during the session.

From what I've learned the Jib is all plastic but is still good. There's a Maple core and concave on the expensive ones. Probably a smart move just waiting on the later to be available again as they have got to be a lot better for fliptricks.

There is a podcast called wet socks from some of the ambition snowskate people, and they talk about the new plastic jib model and the concave/vs no concave issue on the latest episode. One person says he prefers the wood deck with no concave over the more expensive wood deck with the concave. They laugh about Ollieingonto rails in the streets on the plastic board and one dude says he will do one this year.
Whatever you get will be fun. It’s just like skating, you can make a shitty day into a great one just by focusing in and getting a new trick.

What if you bolted some trucks and wheels to an old snowskate?

Would it function as a skateboard? Yes.

Would you use it more than once for the novelty? Probably not.

I remember buying one of the original Premier snowskates when it was on sale at the local ski shop and how impossible it was to ride that floppy plastic noodle. It's impressive how far snowskating has come since then, I think a big part of that is the improvement in the equipment. I haven't lived in a place that gets a lot of snow for the last 15 years, but I've definitely considered getting one of those Ambition boards to play around with.

Merry Christmas and HH to you too man! I read on that post that he wanted to sell his to the locals (very honarable) and that's why he didn't put them up on his site. I felt I would be disrespectful if I asked him to forgo that.

Thank you for this. I will be listening to them for sure! Maybe I will fall in love with this snowskate shit and finally make the move! I love Québec. :)

Can someone explain the difference between the Ambition Jib, Team, and Pro Models? For reference I am older and will not be using these for handrails or hucking. Mostly just screwing around with curbs, ledges, and flatbars, and other skatepark stuff. Would like to be able to flip it as well.

- Pro shapes are a little more custom (blunt vs round kicks, different length and widths) with some concave on the grip.
- Team shapes are consistent with each other and flat concave opposed to Pro (and “blanks” opposed to the pro graphics).
- Jib seems less flip trick, more riding and hittin ride on grinds and shit. Haven’t seen one in person but those kicks look steep as hell.

I’d go with team for your first. Pro concave may help more with something like 360 flips, but I can comfortably do a small bag of flip tricks over gaps, entertain flatbars and mellow rails, slappy curbs, and hit ledges just fine on the team model. Pinchless crooks are funny. That x-grip shit is pretty crucial though.

I smoked my ulnar nerve and ankle ligaments bombing a hill on a snowskate, don’t underestimate em.

I talked with the owner of Ambition, and he told me you can  do fliptricks, rails and shit on the Jib but it is definitely harder. He referred me to their Instagram post from 2 days ago where him and another rider were using them on the street. I'm just going with that model for now..because they were killing it in a level that I won't reach. I would post the link but I don't have IG.
