but no... roast beef (the poor man's stale fish) is the trailing hand (not the leading) but a sick f'n trick non-the-less - thanks! ... more reminiscent of a fat lady?

Antonio durao does a roast beef tailgrab in this clip “rump roast” good name and trick if you ask me. 7:08

a roast beef is technically a really poorly executed stalefish

I thought stale fish was back hand behind back leg and roast beef was just back hand in the middle of both legs?

Yes, and that's the point. Same hand, same rail but you don't bother going around your back leg.  A stale fish is much harder.  Thrasher's Grosso interview has a pic of him cheating a stale fish. To his credit his execution was almost equal in style - anyone else would look a fool.  The caption "Sporting his controversial graphics and roast beefin' it in Houston" and thus roast beef was born.  See Van's "Grosso Forever: The Loveletters Series Finale" https://youtu.be/ABWcMRUWvVM?t=1588
