Wheeler Torque Wrench...

...which i just used to mount a Vortex Viper PST GEN II FFP Rifle Scope (2-10x32mm) to my Bergara B-14 HMR bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.

after i finally successfully defend this treacherous fucking PhD i have every intention of going to school for gun-smithing, and i know this wrench will be invaluable as i proceed...

Recently sold my house that I bought in 2016 for almost double that I paid for, so that.

If you're ever buying a new stove, get a gas one. Electric is for chumps.

I assume the rifle is to defend the PhD. Gunsmithing sounds rad. Definitely something I’ve thought about, but gun culture ain’t currently for me.

Ever: hard to decide, but buying non skate shoes for when I’m not skating was a game-changer. My omega seamaster, while a luxury item, also brings me a lot of joy as a watch nerd.

Recently: proper insulation and a cast iron stove

First of all congrats, but now don't have you to spend whatever you made to afford another house? That happened to my parents, it seems to me that they didn't really come out on top...

People have already said good ones that I strongly agree with, like a cast iron pan, electric toothbrush, and boots. Those were all game changers for me.

It's hard to decide on one that hasn't been said yet, but I'd go with a good water bottle. I've had a bunch over the years since I'll lose them or get new ones for free, and the best are the metal ones that are double walled and keep your water cold. They make it so much easier and convenient to stay hydrated.

The best non skate footwear you can afford and then take care of them. Still have a pair of leather brogues with a pigskin lining that I must have bought over 20 years ago and my Zamberlan GT hiking boots treated with MEC beeswax since I got them maybe a decade ago.

For about a year I'd of said my Dyson vacuum was the best thing I ever bought but now the battery's fucked. Everyone else I know who got one same thing. Look online there's thousands of people same thing.

If you share a house with a woman, a good hand vacuum. You'll be amazed how much hair drops all around the house. Saves you the trouble of breaking out the plug in one.

i'm with everyone whose commented on the importance of a solid pair of winter/hiking boots.

i have a legit pair of Solomon Quest 4 hiking boots, but they're definitely too much for everydays, so i bought a pair of these Vans MTE3 Gore-Tex last December, and they are honestly my favorite boots/shoes in a while, i wear them everyday:

https://www.vans.com/shop/mte-designed-for-the-elements/sk8-hi-gore-tex-mte-3-stealth-black-asphalt

maybe my favorite things from Vans ever--definitely a sound purchase

Fuck yes, under-utilized the one I bought years ago but used it over Xmas for a stew. So good for low and slow cooking.

Kinda true. I was working a blue collar job when I bought the first house, but have been working a tech job since mid 2017. So what I could afford back then was much less than I can now.

The money I made on the previous house has made the mortgage of the new house a lot cheaper, and I’ve been able to get nicer furniture.

i absolutely love these shoes. i don't wear them for skating, more of a dress/going out shoe, but they're super comfortable and breathable for hot days.
