Least Stupidest Thing You’ve Ever Bought
« on: January 14, 2022, 05:27:45 AM »
Just bought 55 episodes of Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History for $80.  That’s $1.45 an episode.  My man-crush for Dan is intense.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.

Electric toothbrush. Why did I wait so king? A basic Sonic Care is like $45, and my teeth and noticeably cleaner every day.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

A massage gun as a birthday gift to myself a few years ago. Best investment as an aging skateboarder.

Cast Iron Pan.

Use that thing daily. Sometimes 3 times per day. Best $25 I ever spent.

Hypervolt.

It helps SOOOOOO much after a skate session, cycling, lifting, or just being out all day.

my older(new to me) toyota tacoma has made my life significantly better, had a tiny ass civic before. hauling surfboards, bikes, skateboards(obvs can fit inside) around, or going camping/hiking is so much easier now

also I love being able to just open the tailgate and chill at a skatespot or really anywhere

Proper kitchen equipment (specifically high power blender for frozen food). My Alexa (I've heard Google home is better); shit comes in hella clutch for timers, reminders, and knowing the weather. JBL speaker. Air purifiers. Fat insulated water flask.

I should get on that electric toothbrush game.

$25 balaclava to wear during Canadian winters. Soooo much warmer than my old beanie + neck warmer combo.

Your teeth will thank you for spending that $50 many years down the road.

A refurbished water-cooled Vega 64 for $150 right before GPUs got stupid expensive. Use it daily for graphic design work. Now they're on eBay for $1000 used.

What a steal, I paid $200-ish for a used MSI 1070 Aero a few years back, thought I overpaid. Now they go for double despite the age.

A cheap but reliable coffee percolator for $20, I drink a lot of coffee at home and the old one died just shy of 5 years, replaced it with the same model.

The Spitfire full metal T-Tool is well worth the money, I've broken 3 Silver tools trying to unscrew stubborn axle nuts with the plastic bits cracking.

Electric percolator? My brain is sticking on the old stovetop style, which last forever.

I use tools all the time, and HF hand tools are often very good, especially for the money.

Most least not smartest: Makita cordless tool battery USB adapter. Turns your tool batteries into power banks.

Rechargeable AA and AAA batteries. It may cost more upfront, but it has been so much more convenient.

dang. there's so many good things in here. stuff that I also have and really appreciate (electric toothbrush, cast iron, aint got one, but that older Tacoma is a boss truck...)

least stupid or most practical?

right now, I'd have to say the 36 year old VW van I bought was a very NOT stupid move. Needed some work, got it on the low. Since July I been learning how to do mechanical and electrical work. Learning about engines. fuel systems. This process has boosted my confidence and ability in fixing not only this vehicle, but anything that needs fixing or overhauling. On top of that, it's enjoyable to complete the project for the day and take a drive or even just know that I did it.

Those spitfire t-tools are the truth. When i first started my homie had a silver tool and it looked sick. But when i got one they were so awkward when trying to apply crazy torque and you'd end up struggling to do simple swaps. Fuck silver tools.

Mrs. Pac Man cocktail table arcade machine.

Ever since I was 10 I dreamed of owning one and it is just as good if not better than I expected.

One of my favourite bars had one of these years and years ago. I spent way too many hours playing it...
I have been thinking it would be cool to do a modded one with heaps of games.
