Sayin

I bought a pair of Es Accel OGs a couple months ago and I love those cunts, however as they're basically my last pair of shoes in the house I'm gonna buy some more in a couple weeks.
I want something puffy like the OGs but not as slim as the Accel Slims- something in the middle. I've had a look at the Etnies Kingpins and Verano and they look decent but none of my local shops have em so I can't get a good look at em.

Anyone have either pair of these? How are they?

Personally, as a substitute to those Accel OGs, you could run:

Etnies:
Kingpin
Joslin
Marana
Jefferson Mid

DC:
Lynx OG
Manteca 4

Es:
Penny 2
Silo SC
Quattro
Evant

Emerica:
KSL G6
Gamma G6 (maybe?)

Adidas:
Forum (Low or Mid) [skate or non-skate]
Super Champion Fun Zone

How can you take the N off the sidewall of a NB 440? I love them but I d even love them more without the giant N on the side.

I did, because you have to clean them after every wet session anyway

Thought so. How do you clean them, take them out of the wheels each time? Sorry I am new to rain set ups …

All I do is take them out, put them in alcohol and spin them around to get all the water out. Then just let them dry. If they aren't spinning right, one drop of speed cream

How is the sizing on Etnies Windrow (Cup)? Also, has anyone used a seam ripper on Etnies? The silhouettes and prices make them too tempting to ignore.

Bearing question: are ceramics actually slower while skating street?

I have some that feel great in the park and on super smooth ground, but feel dead when pushing on anything besides that

Pro tip: If you have it in your country search for Aerosol 99% isopropyl alcohol or just put it in one of those spray bottles for cosmetics. Spin the wheel and douse it with iso and just stuff a rag in the bearing to get the crust off. You don't really even need to do that part. The high % iso doesn't have much water and dries super quick. Ace Hardware stores in the US sell the aerosol version, which makes it less messy if you aim the straw right at the balls. Compressed air also helps get shit outta there too.

A. Wider board/ light trucks
B. Narrow board/ heavy trucks

We talking about straight flips (kickflips / heelflips) or scoopy flips (hardflips / 360 flips / varial heel)?

I'd say B, since narrower deck usually means sorter deck, so your foot flicks off sooner.

Pro tip: aim the straw right at the balls.

I'd say narrow board but if you want the ultimate fast flipper setup a wide board with narrow trucks. I've heard some rumour Rodney used to put led fishing weights under his baseplates to make his board flip faster. Probably not true but funny to think about

i see no reason this feeling would come from the bearings
I would say it's a wheel situation

We need a physicist for that one, I’d like to know the actual answer.

I came here to ask, did bones change the STF formula in the past few years?  I bought some 54mm 103a Stf retros and they are super soggy and don’t slide compared to when I used to ride them.  I rode stf for about about 6 years then switched to f4.

Huh, friend had the same situation with his V1 STF PJ Ladd wheels, he rides STF exclusively and said they felt softer than usual. Compared to the F4 101a I was riding I couldn't tell.

The slide is rubbery and skids rather than a smooth slide.  I was wondering if it was just the stf retros but your friend’s situation makes me think otherwise.  I found an old set that must be 4 years old and didn’t even have the durometer on the graphic and they slid how I’m used to

As a fake physicist(currently finishing masters thesis): I don't know, engineers do that shit.

But: I think an 8.5 with mag lights is still heavier than a 7.5 with indy standards, so the narrow board always wins

I mostly posted this for the sake of discussion but to be specific to my scenario:
A. DLX 8.4 14.25/Thunder light 148
B. DLX 8.25 14.38/ Ace 44 standard

Those decks are so close in specs it doesn't matter. Run the same trucks on either of them and you'll be fine. The DLX 8.25 is actually a bit over 8.38 and has a longer WB but shorter tail. You have trucks on there that likely weigh at or over 400g and trucks that weigh barely over 300g on the other one. The Thunders save more weight Than the tiny increase in wood.

I keep forgetting that the DLX 8.25 is actually 8.38. Thanks for the reminder. I feel like less of an insane person now, though probably just as insane as before.

We need a physicist for that one, I’d like to know the actual answer.

Physics teacher here:
The quantity we use to show how much resistance an object (like a truck) has to rotating is called the moment of inertia. The calculation for it involves the mass of the object and takes into account where that mass is distributed. Basically, it's the mass multiplied by some factor of length/distance. BUT... the length piece tends to be squared while the mass part doesn't, which makes length/weight distribution more important than weight.
The real answer is either. If you have a heavy, narrow truck, the heaviness makes it harder to flip, but the narrowness makes it easier. With a light, wide truck, the width makes it harder, but the light weight makes it easier. And with a wide board, you will also have better leverage in making it flip, since your foot is pushing further away from the axis of rotation.
Best flipper? Super magic carpet setup: wide board, narrow trucks with light hangers and heavy baseplates, small wheels. You want 360 flips? Shorten the wheelbase to move the mass of the trucks and wheels closer to the center. That's why people can tre flip on those little cruiser boards.  ;)

Now this is the level of psychosis I’m talking about! Now which truck has the heaviest baseplates but lightest hangers? I feel like this is an @Xen question!

I'd agree with this.

Indy standard plates w/IKP and TI hangers is probably the answer @Richard Skidder

Almost exactly what I was thinking yet I hadn’t considered the sleeve nut for added weight in the baseplate. Haha rad.
