i bought stf's after riding f4's only bc they were on sale but do not like at all

For some reason the bearing holes are extra small? I ended up having to use old rings to hammer them in whereas with spits usually i can just pop them on with the axle. Also bones wheels killed like 6/8 of my bones swiss within a month of setting it up.

They feel stickier and slower than my worn down <40mm spits even though they're much bigger (54mm). I don't like the "bark" sound either, but that's just subjective.

a lot of people just skate in straight lines with these modern day plaza setups. all they do is rock fakie on the qp anyway. trucks tight af. pretty mcuh how i dealt with it. i got 95a now though and its nice to be able to have some stability.

Pretty much, stoner is slippery af and if you try to cross from one side to the other you’ll get your jaw broken like delfino .

I have never been to stoner but the parks/streets I usually skate are not slippery at all. Stoner sounds like ice skating. F4s were not bad either but I just feel more comfy with the stfs.

I like the feel of spitfires more. But bones v5 shape is great. Spitfire needs to push out more radial slims or something close to the v5
[close]

It seems like they just don’t like making the radials and radial slims anymore.  Maybe no one buys them?  Bummer  because those are some of my favorite wheel shapes
[close]
what if I told you loophole squares are basically the same shape as radial slims?
[close]

I'm riding a set of NFG 54mm Squares and yes, they do feel very similar to Radial Slims, just a hair thicker. They lock in so nicely, held some long nosegrinds on them.

Are they supposed to feel so hard? They feel like they sit between F4 101a and 103a. And I would love to see them in 52mm.

Yea the 52D are a bit on the hard side, technically 103a. You can try the 95a for a softer, stickier wheel: https://www.nfgmfg.com/product-page/grim-95a-ptf-crust-54-mm-square

Haha, this is gold. It made me look at who was actually on the Bones team, and there's like 3 different people who are connected to Dime on it (Decenzo, TJ Rogers and JS).

In the mid 90’s George Powell had a golden retriever named “bones”. I always felt bad for that dog having to bear that name. But he was a pretty happy dog, so there’s that.

They made rollerblade wheels back in. The 90’s. I think the name of the company was “blood” or something like that. They use to make Swiss roller skate bearings too.

I tried f4s once, hated it, got the board stolen and went back to bones. I only skate the v3 slim shape. If spitfire came out with a similar shape I would try it.

Bones graphics suck but I always skate graphics in so it doesn't matter.

any recs for other slim shapes?

Haha why be so dramatic about a wheel company. Yeah there's no hope and they're shutting down tomorrow and bones fans will be at the park trying to skate their boards with no wheels

I only skated STF Bones for 4-5 years; I love them, but last year changed to spits formula four cause I feel they are a little softer so they handle rough terrain better and this time I haven’t been skating so many perfect places

STF can be too slippery in some skatepark grounds but also you KNOW they are like that, they will pivot every time and that’s a good thing too

Bones classic formula are shit btw, flatspots for days

If they updated their Marketing materials it would be a start.

Also loved how they embarked on the 99a, yellow-stained wheels to counter the spitfire allure...

Bones SPF is still my favorite park wheel. Fastest and perfect anywhere smooth concrete parks are concerned.

Bones STF is my favorite plaza style/ledge wheel.

NFG is my favorite for raw street.

F4 is my all around wheel.

My loyalty is to skating. Brand loyalty is so jock.

you are speaking my language.

In Argentina Bones Wheels are the standard and pretty much. Could be because there are a lot of bootleg Spitfires that are absolute shit. But it really amazed me how people swear by Bones and how anti-Spitfire they were. So maybe an Argentinean colorway at least?
