Any hope for Bone wheels?
« on: January 16, 2022, 04:35:22 PM »
I've been seeing a lot more bones wheels on sale lately. Now that F4 is considered the gold standard wheel amongst most I'm wondering if they'll actually be able to stay in business...

Anyone know if they have a new formula in the works or out of curiosity, whats your general thought of bones these days as far as staying relevant goes?

I used to love bones and thought they were the best… until I tried F4’s. Haven’t ridden bones since.

If it gets that bad they’ll just update the formula to try to drum up some new buzz and it will probably work. I predict Bones will go under around the same time as the rest of skateboarding, if not the rest of humanity.

i was flow for bones in 2014. i was always pretty bummed on the artwork, but after they sent me some gravette wheels where the graphic was a toilet seat with his name spelled in shit and the wheel size in piss, i opted to buy spitfires instead. artwork and brand image aside, white wheels just look wrong

I ride bones and ojs mainly, I’ve had the strangest equipment failures with spitfires, had a wheel crack totally into 2 pieces before (like breaking a donut in half) had the wheel break of the axle so the center piece between bearings was there but rest of wheel could slide on and of… Also I kinda like super white wheels, if I’m buying new wheels I don’t want them to look faded already I want them to look new.. when I was a kid and you’d see pros setting up boards in videos or mags their wheels always looked so bright white and nice not of white like smokers teeth.

Bones SPF wheels are rad for skatepark concrete, awful anywhere else. But it's funny to act like Bones is gonna go outta business or something, like George Powell hasn't just been minting money with everything he does for 50 years.

I'm still backing Bones, the wheels are great.

SkateOne sucks in terms of brand image, graphics, holding on to any decent skaters that they get, and basically anything to do with marketing... but I love the wheels and the bearings.

every pro and their mom is on spits, its very clear that bones is just always gonna be second choice but i doubt they gonna go away tbh, theres always gonna be random spitfire haters rockn the bones till the grave (which is soon cause most those mfs old as fuck)
The year is 2364. Frog will be the only skateboard company.

I’ll take bones over spit any day of the week.

I agree that their graphics and branding are pretty meh. Unlike spitfire it’s not a brand you want to rep. Bones product wise are great.

Working at a shop someone will come in with a pair of brand new spitfire’s with one split straight down the middle at least once a year. And it’s always Big Head classics. So much so there’s a bunch of old heads that call them splitfires

I fuck with sml’s and dialtones

Bones has some diehards still, just check the Shoes & Gear section.  But Spitfire Formula Four is becoming the standard.  Even if there's some sort of defect, Deluxe is great at replacements.  A1 customer service.  Shit if Iw as gonna try a non Spitfire wheel, it'd be Dialtone probably.

Anyone I’ve ever talked to about wheels in the last nine years as well as myself:

I used to love bones and thought they were the best… until I tried F4’s. Haven’t ridden bones since.
