to be fair nine club probably get most of their views from spotify. but i like gifted hater, he is also more like a 'quality over quantity' type of guy too and that probably makes the few vids he does make get lots of views.

Yet some of y'all are still nonplussed how he has so much influence. What's pathetic is he has a fraction of the subs of these other channels and consistently crushes them in views and it's not even close, meaning a lot of people are fans but too proud to subscribe. And he's passing them in days. He makes stuff people want to watch and I can't say the same for the others.

And it's not just his TMZ gossip videos either so don't try to pull that. A skatepark review with over 100k views meanwhile the Nine Club has interviews with legit legends that have been up for months that will never crack that.

Idk gifted hater can construct an argument and because he went to art school knows how to facilitate a critique. People act like he is JUST hating, but he will often give reasons why he actually likes some aspects of the person, etc. like you would do in an actual critique.
I was thinking earlier that I don’t know what he’s making but I hope he is saving some because I’m sure there would be people willing to try and dethrone him.

At best they know what they remember what they read in magazines when they were in high schools and what they learned from lords of dog town.

For most people nine club is their first time people hear stories from skate history. The skateboard nerdery on slap is not the norm

You say that but then GH posts a video about some internecine skateboarding bullshit and gets 100k views in a day.

Skateboarding is pretty big now, but more importantly the demographic of skateboard media consumer is more mature, and there is obviously an appetite for a type of commentary which is more or less impossible to get out of traditional skateboard media. Remember that Thrasher was started specifically to sell Independent Trucks - how much objective opinion do you think is possible from such a source?

Same is true for Jenkem. In all the videos they’ve posted in the last year, only two have more views than their interview with GH, and one is a Suciu part. Meaning people are seeking out GH content.

I guess the majority of his subjects—such as Berra, YouTube skaters, and IC—aren’t really on my radar. So to me, he focuses heavily on stuff that’s not really relevant to what’s worthwhile in skating.

But I’m an old has-been with a bummed ankle that still watches the Ipath video.

Exactly. And at one point was getting sent what were basically custom shapes from Jim T at DLX. And gets flowed LRABs. And skates regularly with Ryan Lay and Arin.
