Dude is soft and apparently he's never seen video days either which is laughable and gives his opinions zero credibility.

ok boomer...

If you never watched the first Superbowl start to finish your opinions on football have zero credibility.

I don't think watching a scientologist do a mobbed kickflip up a curb is going to change his views on skateboarding

The dude could probably do almost every trick in Video Days himself. Gonz part is pretty much the only one still worth watching these days.

Guy is fucking hilarious imo and I find myself cracking up at the same ridiculous, silly shit at the same time as he does in his videos. Him ragging on Andrew Cannon in that Street League Stupid video is gold.

If I was a jock douche who liked football I probably would watch the first superbowl to understand how football evolved into what it is today. I forgot skate videos have expiration dates too and aren't worth watching after a certain amount of time has passed, how silly of me. Video days has nothing to do with how people skate today and doesn't have any significant cultural impact or NBDs in it either. Now go watch your twitch streamer that gets mad when people repost his half baked opinions.

Damn, with all of this emphasis on history, I hope you've read enough history books to know that the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. We're going to need as many skater comrades as possible with a historical materialist understanding of the world when the shit hits the fan.

Tbh there’s only two kinds of skaters. Those who’ve seen Video Days and those who haven’t seen it YET.

I'm an old and I fukn hate the godfather. That aside I don't think watching video days has to be literal. I think it's just a loose term for knows the history. Funny when I started skating video days was only 8 years old but it seemed like ancient history but to some youngster isle vase must seem like some ye olden days shit

I can't believe the amount of people who just don't understand how cringe it is to listen to some park kid who's not educated on literal staples in skate history talk about skateboarding. Especially when his takes are just shit the core community has been saying for years, like holy shit he doesn't like Nyjah, Steve Berra, Rip n dip or various other known kook shit that everyone already bashes. What a fresh and edgy opinion that I couldn't make for myself.

If you have a copy of "The Marxist Playbook" can you send me a copy? Because clearly whatever I'm doing hasn't been effective.

I never once was given even a lick of leftist education in high school or college. I had to go out of my way and read leftist books on my own time. I got into arguments with shit for brains Liberal/Capitalist professors, and my grades even suffered for doing things like critiquing the New York Times while my professor referred to it as their "bible."

College staffs are mainly filled with liberals, conservatives, and "libertarians". As long as you deepthroat Capitalism, you are welcome to teach in any university. Neoclassical economics only. If you're a "renegade" professor, maybe some limp-dicked Keynesianism.

Marx's name wasn't uttered a single time in any of my classes or by any of my classmates. I'm sure that will change soon in terms of students, as Capitalism continues to collapse and people realize how the media and the highly educated have been bullshitting them about Capitalism their whole life.

I've found if you ask people to define Capitalism or Socialism, they can't give an accurate definition of either. Hiding It from people and demonizing it has been pretty effective it seems.

God, I wish.

Gary Vee, alt-right conspiracy theories, and "enlightened centrism" seems to be more accurate for skate YouTube. Skate Twitter and Slap definitely has it's share of comrades. Shout out to Ryan Lay btw.

I seriously am surprised by the amount of people on here that just seem to not give a shit about classic skate videos nor understand the impact some have made. Its hilarious how everyone automatically thinks I'm old because I appreciate old skate videos and understand the importance they had in shaping our culture into what it is today. I'm not sure if you guys are aware that there's other ways to get exposed to things besides being alive in that time period (reading, curiosity, allusions, recommendations of people I meet). That's like calling anyone who listens to Nirvana a boomer. Whatever though, Keep siding with the indie brand circle jerker who has somehow never heard of Evisen, obviously because he's totally core and in the know.

ive been teaching in colleges for a while and gradually the students have started to bring up communism and historical figures like lenin all on their own. i teach STEM classes, so this was kinda surprising to me. we don't cover any of that stuff. but the kids are finding it on their own. they really like that streamer hasan piker. that was another surprise to me.

but hey, they can see how fucked up things around them are, and they can tell that the 'mainstream' political options (neoliberalism and neoconservatism, basically) aren't helping.

of course a few of them are also into like jordan peterson and farther right wing stuff as well. i guess what i'm saying is "the kids are desperate and being young is pretty harsh right now". so maybe thats why lil zoomer joa the youtuber hasnt managed to watch video days yet. who cares.

You're going beyond appreciation. You're saying someone's opinions on skateboarding are invalid because they didn't watch a specific old skateboarding video that you like. Complete kook behavior.

Thanks for the insight. I'm surprised that it's even reaching STEM. I've found the a lot of smart STEM people will often miss the mark when it comes to understanding politics, power dynamics, and such.

Yeah, you're right, Gen Z has a LOT on their plate between COVID, ICE, killer cops, school shootings, etc. I'm sure it's kind of hard to have time to care about researching the history of skateboarding when skating is supposed to be your escape from all of that shit.

That being said, I love Gen Zs approach to skating. Gen Z homies vids are the best. Great music and "fashion" choice too. They're like Gen X with a heart of gold.

You are getting all pretentious and snooty about the history of skate videos and skate writing blah blah blah... while simultaneously making some weird dismissive comments about college and Marxism. Seems like you have a giant chip on your shoulder about education, and are using skate history to compensate. You're as bad as the pretentious liberal professors I had to deal with.

I'm not the one talking about marxism dipshit... I'm not even registered to vote or give any type of fuck about politics. It's not pretentious to not think someone's opinion isn't credible because they aren't as educated as they try to come off as.

I'm not the one talking about marxism dipshit... I'm not even registered to vote or give any type of fuck about politics. It's not pretentious to not think someone's opinion isn't credible because they aren't as educated as they try to come off as.

Aw c'mon..  maybe register to vote!  free stickers

You're going beyond appreciation. You're saying someone's opinions on skateboarding are invalid because they didn't watch a specific old skateboarding video that you like. Complete kook behavior.

It's one thing to like old skate videos and appreciate the history and progression, but instead you're projecting some insecurities. I love watching skate videos from before my time, but I'm not going to force others to watch some shakey cam footage of mobbed front side flip down an EMB 3 stair.

Not registered to vote? Are you saying that you doubt the legitmacies of bourgeois democracies? Disillusioned by the theatrical illision of politics in America? Hmm... Sounds like a Marxist to me.
