I got 4 of those Long Beach Skate co. decks in today. For what it's worth they were all a standard shape similar to an Element deck but with longer nose and tail. All were Clutch wood. On an 8.38 they have a 14.2 wheelbase, 32.2 long, 7.25 nose, 6.75 tail and around 2 fingers of flat on each end. The orange and teal ones pictured are going to be normal shape clutch decks. They look like very nice decks, haven't skated a deck with a longer nose before.

Depends where in the world you are.

In US pro decks and twins should be BBS, team decks most likely China.
You can recognize BBS decks by red/white or black/white warning sticker on top ply saying 'Made in Mexico'.
Examples of BBS made Alien and Habitat decks
https://www.tactics.com/alien-workshop/spears-bully-8375-twin-tail-shape-skateboard-deck
https://www.tactics.com/habitat/suciu-lone-wolf-8375-twin-tail-skateboard-deck

Some older Alien and Habitat decks were made by PS Stix and can be recognized by laser engraved serial number on top ply and 'made in Mexico' sticker.

China decks usually have bottom ply silver sticker with hand saying 'made with premium north American maple and glue'.
Example of China made Habitat
https://www.tactics.com/habitat/mosaic-20-8375-twin-tail-skateboard-deck
There are still bunch of China made pro decks in circulation and shapes and concave seems to be same like on BBS made decks.

For Europe, latest batch of decks seems to be China ones.

I dropped AWS insta a DM (like a man) to ask if they were still making boards with BBS.

The few I have at home still have the black and white made in Mexico sticker.  Primitive and Element use a combination of BBS and China boards, could have been stock that was sent for production in late 2021 / mid 2022 since the lead time between dealer catalog release and when those specific graphics go on sale is at least 3-6 months in advance.

Edit from AWS:
BBS - pro models from Habitat / Metal / AWS, Twin Tail
PS Stix - Austyn Gillette pro model with wheel wells
Logo decks - recent ones like the Logo Hex embossed are DSM, older ones before 2023 are BBS (my guess)

[close]

Habitat suciu twin in EU is China. Wondered why they never dropped here/dropped so late and saw it for the first time here like a week ago. Has the US maple and glue sticker. Could post pictures for a comparison with the old owlien (i think BBS) as I still have one from a few years ago.

FWIW as stated elsewhere my Sammy Montano shaped deck direct from alien US has a made in china sticker similar to what I've heard re: the Morgan flag.  I usually skate BBS but reserving judgement as it looks great and I haven't skated it yet.  Topside does look kind of like recent girl/chocolate boards I've had .

I got a shop board from Skate Warehouse and I'm curious who the manufacturer is.

It has a dyed black top and pink middle ply with a stamp in the middle of the front truck holes. The stamp looks like the letter O and there is a small circular red sticker indicating the width next to the stamp.

Concave feels steep and the shape is full in nose and tail.

Can anybody tell me what the shape of Hopps decks is like? Specifically the nose? Is it round? Average? Pointy?

I had one from clutch from 2021 and it was super pointy.

Those in the know had said that during pandemic times they were on Clutch, but now back on BBS, but still yet to confirm this as I hadn't seen any in person for a number of years.  Their site says boards made in Mexico, so could be either.

https://hoppsskateboards.com/collections/decks

Tactics was one place that seemed like it had a good top image of the board, but it seems like the same image used for their 8, 8.25 and 8.5 so who knows.  Not too sure about all the other sizes, but you can check this one and compare.  To be honest that shape looks a little weird, but that might be down to the image cropping, more than one single board.

Ah too bad. I think the shape is just not for me. The one I bought looked like GX shape to me on picture, but in reality it was extremely pointy.

Does anyone know if Theories and Traffic decks are made by BBS now again? I think they also came from a different woodshop a while.

It would be good to get some clarification on all of the Theories dist boards, as I think the list needs updating.

https://www.theoriesofatlantis.com/collections/skateboard-decks

I had a few things come up in this from the search for THEORIES from this and other threads, but again, nothing certain for the current runs.

Quite simply, some distributors buy in a whole lot of blanks and do their own in house heat transfers to whatever wood they have available, on whatever sizes they want, so the same graphic can easily be on almost any shape or size they have in their warehouse.  This doesn't exactly help for the list, if somewhere does get some from here and some from there, depending on what is available.

From the list of brands that come through Theories of Atlantis distribution, there were often three or four woodshops for the various brands, at one point being like this around mid to end of 2022, but I don't know what they are currently.

Dwindle - Evisen, Tightbooth
Control - Studio

BBS pre 2021 - Theories, Hopps, Isle, Magenta, Traffic, Picture Show
Clutch - 2021 Theories, Hopps, Isle, Magenta, Traffic, Picture Show, then 2022 Traffic, Picture Show
BBS (Generator) - 2022 Theories, Hopps, Isle, Magenta, 2023 maybe all the rest again

The shapes and sizes of this board look like the generic BBS / Generator boards for the popsicles at least in the 8.1 through 8.5 sizes, but that is not to say that they didn't get them made to those sizes through another woodshop too, as the Traffic board seems to be the same on listings.

That is a bit of a bugger!

It is not old stock from when they were on PS Stix?  Too long since the swap when I look it up, so I guess no.

I don't keep up with Welcome that much, but definitely bought a couple of boards since being on BBS, rather than PS Stix.

Others I know loved their PS Stix Welcome boards and were sad when they changed, but that is beside the point.

Thanks for the info too.

Yeah I had a look through others too and saw quite a few had the PS Stix engraving, while the normal graphic and top side with BBS sticker are current and correct.

Doing a random sample of quite a few boards and they are the only ones to really stand out, but now it makes me wonder about other shapes I have not seen in person.

The boards I had seen in person definitely looked like the pics they had up, but as said, when the same pic is used for an 8, an 8.25 and an 8.5 board, something is a little funny, from that other pic further up this page.

I think for board tops, there are a few shop sites that I can rely on for the actual board pics, both top and bottom, but right this minute I can't think of them, but I had the list round here somewhere.

In the Ben Degros video where he’s visiting PSStix there are Welcome boards there and it seems like they’ve just been made. I’m assuming the video has been filmed recently so I’m wondering what’s up with that. Are Welcome making some boards at PSStix still or could those be one offs for a rider or something?

Do 8“ Alien and Habitat (habitat is the same shape, right?) have a big nose and tail too?

I want to size down from 8.25 AWS to an 8“. I love the big steep kicks of AWS. Have lo ventures now and want to get a deck now for them.

They are the same set of shapes for the most part and the 8 does have the big steep kicks.  Habitat 8s are often on insane sales on the Habitat website - I recently got a Stefan rally car 8 for 40 bucks (Alien sometimes, but seemingly less assuming you aren't looking for a pricepoint complete).  Haven't skated it yet, but looks great and similar t other Alien/Habitat 8s.

Cool, will try an 8“ then. I think the only thing I might miss from the 8.25 is how comfortable you can nose and tailslide with the big kicks. I guess on 8“ it’s a good amount less surface to stand on

Are there other brands with steep big nose and tails similar to alien workshop?

LB Shop on Clutch shapes:

Expand Quote
Expand Quote
Just got my LB Skate Co decks and they were a mixed bag of Clutch shapes, glad I stuck to just 2 boards.

2 x 8.38, 1 with the ship graphic, one with the car graphic

Ship Graphic
Clutch K8 Graphic
8.38 x 32.125 x 14.25
Standard popsicle shape, steep kicks

Car Graphic
Clutch O8 Graphic
8.38 x 31.6 x 14.25
Square nose with a blunt tail, similar to a Quasi / GX1000, steep kicks

Trying to upload pics but Imgur isn't working for me at the moment.

Bummed on on the car graphic one, both aren't dipped but the blue and yellow look so good. The fat nose would have been a blast to skate too. Clutch makes decent boards only slightly inferior to BBS but I don't think I can ride a 31.6 x 14.25, those are Baker dims.
[close]

That would have been good if they had put which shape it was on their listings, but maybe they are more a "mixed bag" than anything else, whatever comes on which ever shape?

If those boards are the same wheelbase, but very different lengths, how much difference is there in kicks too, both kicks shorter on the blunt shape or proportional enough?
[close]

Here are the shapes I got in case anyone was interested.

Edit: The butterfly deck appears slightly more full and the letter stamp looks more like an 'X' than a 'K' but I couldn't find that shape listed on the clutch website.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Has anyone from Europe tried the DGK decks? I was looking for a deck with certain dimensions and found one dgk pro deck on sale, but it seems it is from the china made decks and not bbs, so if anyone have some experience with their china made decks i would appreciate an insight on the wood.

People who have had DGK boards from China have said different things on here, some like them, some do not.

I haven't seen any personally so can't really comment, but the initial response with them was they were about average weight, decent shapes, felt nice and snappy in the ollie department and were compared to a number of other woodshops or similar boards from Element and Birdhouse, who might very well use the same supplier for their own boards.

Did you have a specific shop in mind or where did you see it?

More so just to get a look at their board pics or the specific board, graphic name, or whatever, so I can search for it and find other info, maybe good board pics and more.
