Woodshop thread index / info:

First full page (all 30 posts) should be all the Woodshop lists, as well as pics and other info (still compiling more info to go in there as well - might take a while).

Second page starts off with a bit more info, links to other board threads and a bit more random stuff that I didn't really think should be on the first page.

Then any and all contributions to the thread after that, which are always welcome, be it something that has changed from what is on the list, anything else not on the list, questions about board brands, or any other woodshop, deck or board related stuff.

Thanks for all of you helping make this thread what it is too.

So I don't forget to add this.

I am wondering if they are just local to Brazil or distribute them elsewhere in South America too.

@brucewillis   Any other info???

Magenta, Uma Landsleds, Rave Skateboards and Habitat are being made at IBL woodshop here in Brazil.

Great wood and shapes, skating a Habitat Fred Gall 8.25 rn and it's amazing.

Thanks for that info - I seem to recall something about IBL before but I am now following their instagram.

I just happened to be looking for pics of HLC boards, when this one came up.

Also these two shops seem like they have good info and pics too.

Anyone in EU familiar with them?

- The first page says CCS uses chinese boards for their shop decks. I've Had 3 CCS customs. One was PSSTIX one was Prime. one was unmarked. I imagine they just order bulk from whoever at the time and pull from a random stack.

-someone ask who makes the 7K stamped huf Street figther decks. This a picture of a woodchuck blank taken from ebay also stamped 7k

all the woodchuck decks I have in my office are not stamped. Also their wood is pressed in mexico. I though it was US pressed

Yes I think CCS is a bit of a "get it from where ever you can" type of deal.  How long ago were those other boards, as I am trying to put the date that someone says in the info as well.

I am still a long way off going through compiling all the info, so could turn up some interesting ones in the process.

Re Ebay Streetfighter deck:

Did you mean Clutch?

Streetfighter Huf boards were Clutch, made in Mexico (but might have had a USA flag sticker on them, as per one I saw in another shop and some other companies with wood from one place and labelled as USA).

I have one and it is exactly the same as other Clutch boards, so maybe someone on ebay didn't know where the board came from, or Clutch is supplying wood to other woodshops, as they do for Chapman.

Edit:

I thought Woodchuck boards are made in Canada, but the distribution is in California, as per comment on their most recent post below, but they could be getting boards from Clutch now, which makes sense if they are coming from Mexico.

Some did ask where the factory was and they didn't answer, but have answered lots of other questions before and after.

Interesting...

Just checking, as I didn't know half of that until I read it just now.  :)

Close ups on these both show different markings, one with what looks like a size laser burn and others with just a small dot.

Might be outsourcing wood from who knows where, just to get through.

ebay listing for blank deck. Nether the store nor listing say woodchuck.but the product shot setup they use. They also have stuff thats on the woodchuck store, like grindking pins and wood fingerboards. This store also sells random blems

They have a facility. This old factory video has a Spanish exit sign. I fell like OSHEA would require it to be atleast half english if it were in america.

Its possible they moved to mexico years ago and no one noticed. woodchuck has never really been a household name in terms of woodshops.

also those decks, look an awful lot like these these decks.

That sign is in French, it says "Sortie" not "Salida", Woodchuck's factory is in Canada and I think, if it's in Quebec, French signage is allowed.

I had a chance to go through those ebay listings and I wonder if the ebay account isn't a clearing house, or something similar - they buy or have access to a lot of stock, bought cheap, list it and resell it for others, including what they get from Woodchuck supplied products, Clutch blanks, some other boards from different suppliers and a whole lot of second hand and used stuff, non skate related too - over 12,000 listings.

93 Kreeper inverted kingpins just there, over 900 sold from their listings too, which is nuts!

This listing definitely has Clutch blanks (letter and number stamp), conveniently wrapped in that way that could be done by anyone, but I only really see it from Clutch supplied places.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255352235294

Then other listings show boards that have the laser size on top, but over the back bolt area, which I have only seen from random / unknown woodshops in China, especially when they have something like "Genuine Canadian Maple" on a sticker with what looks more like a generic barcode and manufacturing info.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/254835006598

This is a different font to the other boards, as well as others with random brands which look more like Woodchuck too and nothing on top.  There is even a Ron Jeremy deck in there, 25 in stock.

Anyway, I guess it is not a big deal either way, but I am used to seeing the all natural Premium decks (and others from Woodchuck) from back in the day, so it is good to see they have coloured ply layers now, but I wonder if they are doing something similar to another woodshop you had mentioned who can supply wood from different places, as maybe their own normal woodshop cannot keep up so they import whatever they need, be it Clutch from Mexico or other from where ever.

Funny looking through lots of those listings though.

Better but still inferior to BBS, PS Stix or DSM IMO, but it's nice they list their dims in detail if you're a stickler for that.

now i am more keen to get enjoi r7 since it's cheaper than girl decks, and might get another wknd VB deck for fun stuffs.

I just got confirmation that AD is done. I was very lucky to get my full order apparently. I talked to someone who put it an order around the same time as me for the same quantity and got a call from their lawyer saying they went out of business. He didn’t get his boards and it doesn’t look like his money back either. Super bummer. They made a really good board/shape but I guess they didn’t know how to run the biz side of it.

I know of a shop they got too. I suppose paying Andy Roy to come "party" at your weird jesus freak woodshop should have been a red flag for me but I know everyone was desperate for wood and I really dig bruj so I just wanted to see more stuff out there. Fuck me I feel awful.

Yes you did (and thank you - I appreciate it) but it was more a case of adding more relevant information to this thread as well, this time from another skate shop.

Any other additional info that is relevant is good to copy and paste here as well, given the situation and it would seem a lot of people are out of pocket from it, but also some had been lucky enough to get their orders just before they pulled the plug on the place.

I could not even think to imagine how many people are now left without boards who have paid for them, or at least put a deposit down, so it is definitely not a good situation, but I guess many people would never have known how close to going under it had been even from the start, but the struggle is real, even for long established businesses, just as much as new starts.  More are going to go under and others are going to be very close, with no one knowing until it is done and too late.

They got at least 3 people I know. I want to think they just got in over their head but honestly with demand for boards as crazy as it was if they weren't making money then someone massively fucked up, what I want to know is if that fucking up was the plan all along or they're just incredibly incompetent. From the outside looking in it really looks almost like an exit scam.

For anyone reading this that's in the same boat, at least one person successfully got their money back already by reporting it to the credit card company they used for the purchase. I'm sure this will vary depending on the card provider but it's at least one path to getting your money back from these assholes.

Also, if anyone wants to support a SLAP pal who got fucked over by them, or just a dude who just makes cool shit (like a Paulo Diaz guest board) and contributes to the fun here - buy something from Brujaria skateboards. The graphics are actually good too, so just buy one for that reason.

Thanks for the shout out!

Paulos are long gone. Supreme actually bought most of them which was kinda cool cause they gave us money! Ultimate limited edition drop, checks from Supreme!
He's a mercurial fellow and can be hard to track down to do more but it was a rad thing to do with him having grown up in Los Feliz in the 90s and him being the local legend.
It was fun working with Norman and Ghost too.

As for AD, the lawyer basically said "go piss up a rope" so I'm working with Bank Of America to get my money back. Its not a huge amount ($2500) but its enough to get upset over. Bru is an extension of my much larger company so hopefully I'll be able to get BofA to listen. I bet that sleazy lawyer AD is using will take their call.
I also referred them to other people during the board drought so now I've got some stain on my name by proxy!

Buttheads.

Things got really hard during the board drought for the smaller brands. Not the first time a woodshop has used sleazy tactics (looking at you and your bait and switch invoicing Clutch) but its coming back around on them now. I still do freelance graphic work for a local press here in LA (think World reissues) and we talk about the nature of the industry. Apparently the big brands flexed hard when boards got scarce and are now totally swamped with inventory. Like needing multiple warehouses levels of inventory and retailers (zumiez) are cutting orders so hopefully we'll see a resurgence of smaller boutique brands with lower overheads.

So i got this Darkroom Harlequin 8.75 football kind of deck, which feels really good. Listings of wheelbase and so on are different on different sites. Tactics says 14wb, 7 nose, 6.5 tail 32.625 length, native store lists it as 31.5 length 14.125. I don't have a metric measurement tape but the truth seems to be a mixture of both. 14 wb (measured 35.5-35.6 cm), 31.5 length (measured 80cm without concave), tail 6.5 (middle of bolt to direct line to the edge, this is not the point sticking out the furthest because it tapers a lot), nose 7 (same measurement as tail). Might be slightly of because of the metric tape and conversion, but should be in that range i guess. Is this shape a "standard" BBS shape? The shape is not in their newest drops as it seems, but there are still some available. Are there similar shapes i am missing? The Love seat feels a lot more sluggish and a bit less stable imo. Maybe the crail skidul shape even though it is only 8.5 wide? The polar football has a longer wheelbase even though it seems to be 14.375 and not 14.5 as stated, and it has wheel wells which is cool i guess.

Never seen that one before, so guessing it was a specific board just for Darkroom.  I would say there could be others similar to that, but can't think of any right this minute.  If you did like it and there are more out there, I would say get as many as you can as there most likely is not going to be more.

The Darkroom site / catalog from Winter 2021 had it listed as 8.75 x 31.5 so that seems about right as the overall length adds up closer to 31.5 or so with the 14 wb, 7 nose and 6.5 tail.

Other Darkroom decks I have had were different to the stickers on them, so that is no surprise, I guess.

Top views are often best to see the shape of the deck, without getting distracted by the graphic too.

I had a quick look around and know there is an Antihero deck that is much the same, pic below, but I couldn't see too many others like that one.

Re Darkroom decks:

Although this is probably not the dimensions you are after, it looks like the only current shape that has been continued from the last lot.

Given the overall length and the wheelbase, with shorter nose, if you drilled in the front using the six hole baseplate method, which is about 3/8" then you would easily have almost the same board as the other one, for wheelbase at least, with what might be a shape that could work for you as well.

Just an option anyway.

https://drkrminc.com/collections/decks/products/peafowl-skateboard-deck-9-125

9.125" wide
14.375" wheelbase
6.625" tail
6.375" nose
31.5" length
