I would usually say go in to the shop, stand on the board to feel the concave and if it is to your liking, buy it.  While there, someone might know and tell you as well, but I also know it is often not as easy as that.

Not much help I know (sorry) but I had a look through the woodshop list and there are a few I don't know where they are based, so could be from one of them, but someone else might be of more help - given I have never travelled outside of Australia, so don't really know much besides what I can see on google maps.

Maybe Legend?   I just don't know.

The board photos are always better than production images, so it is nice to see a spread of the actual boards too.

do ps stix have shape codes/etc or would i need to look for the same dims on other boards and hope its the same shape? been skating a wknd kleppan 8.5 for a week or two and really like it, fuller nose with a bit of a flatter squared tail but i'm not sure how often the shape is used. only other time i've seen it was on the nasa habitat boards a few years ago. dims are:

Width: 8.5". Length: 32.125". Wheelbase: 14.25". Nose: 7.125". Tail: 6.75".

Re PS Stix, their serial number info is the batch and board numbers, not really a guide to the shape and size, so that is not going to help finding more of those unless you have some contact at PS Stix to look it up for you.

Re WKND as a brand, I know they had a pretty cool shape guide from a while back that was good to use to find whatever boards they had, but I don't know how accurate it still is or if that has changed again now.

https://shop.wkndbrand.com/

I see they still have the shape guide when you go into the board listings, so the one you want is the plain 8.5 not the 8.5MP or 8.5TH but I recall someone saying some of those shapes are not accurate either, when you look at the listings.

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1014/3147/products/MARCH-2022-BOARD-SIZE-GUIDE-01_58cfffe7-e44a-4359-a5be-efb7a9ace1e3_2048x2048.jpg

Guessing at least that is a standard shape for any WKND board, of which there are a few from that current list in the same shape:

https://shop.wkndbrand.com/search?q=8.5

Maybe go by the graphic and check local stores to compare dimensions of these at least:

Did anyone else see this?

Doesn't matter if you laughed, or cried, or just stared, Gleaming the Cube was a pretty epic movie for the time, complete with inaccuracies and stupid stuff only skateboarders would notice, but I still thought it was worth posting.

I added the listing to the woodshop main page as well.

They are a woodshop that makes all sorts of things, with what seems like only a few posts about skateboard decks from 2018, but lots about other things like knife handles, various forms of board, sheeting, tools, etc.

I think you might find this link interesting (especially the board pics):

Maybe an AWS deck? I honestly don’t know I’d they’re any cheaper than Quasi/GX/WKND, but they’re a similar shape.

What goes on behind the scenes, anyone can guess, but the most common reason brands change woodshops or even start looking is if they are unhappy with the current supplier for whatever reason, or unable to get what they want through the current supplier.

This did remind me to go and check, so from a quick look, it is interesting that they clearly show which woodshop their boards come from, as well as listing dimensions which I am always a fan of - details help.

That’s interesting about Dogtown. Quasi is using both PS Stix and BBS as well, with no plans to switch to one or the other.

Quality has gone downhill.

My shop did an order with them and many of the boards arrived warped, and a lot of them had extremely sloppy routing jobs. The one I bought delammed on the nose on the first session, which is insane because I didn't pop the nose once during that time.

My shop then got PS Stix Toy Machine decks, and while they arrived unwarped they also had sloppy routing jobs. That's insane since TM is by no means a small account.

I've had a number of PS Stix decks (Quasi, Transportation Unit, Dogtown, etc) over the years, and the one thing that was consistent with all of them was that they would feel soggy after 2-3 weeks despite not having notable damage.

BBS has 0 consistent problems like this and is ultimately the superior woodshop. It's no wonder so many brands are moving over to them.

Sure is wild to think of their journey, from what seemed like pretty much the top woodshop in the industry back around 2000 to now with people talking about so many issues and ongoing problems.

Thinking back, that all those Black Label PS Stix boards I used to ride over twenty years ago were pretty much the best boards I had ever skated, back when I actually went hard and really made the most of what I had, even riding some of the older PS Stix boards I still have that are still so stiff and good, so the product from back then really was "the good stuff" so to speak.

I might have seen and skated up to ten PS Stix boards in recent years, all from other people and most still seemed fairly decent and defect free, but I know others I have skated with have had a few issues and don't want to ride their wood any more, as well as seeing some pics and funny things as mentioned.

Any which way, if they work for you, no worries, but if they don't because of manufacturing issues or look poorly finished, that is more something to take pics of and send to the brand / local distro or whoever to check and sort out under a valid warranty claim, but even saying that, I know sometimes it is easier to just give it away or focus it and go elsewhere for better boards.

A bit different working in a shop environment and seeing so many boards come through from various brands and distros but even then, it is hard not to notice some things like that and wonder what is going on.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I feel like someone talked about this a while back (about this time last year in the 2021 woodshop thread), but no definitive answer as nothing else comes up on searches.

Thought it was also through one of the "in between distros" as in MDCN, Quarter or something like that, but can't remember.  With a brand name like POP, you wouldn't want them to be on soft or soggy wood, but most boards that come out of China are very stiff and solid in construction nowdays.

As to the exact woodshop in China, there are some well known ones (Dwindle, Excel, Jeeping, Dalian Hauhong, etc) and then everyone else - no idea how many woodshops are active there as everyone is very secretive about it, or just not a whole lot of info out there when searching.  I think I follow maybe twenty on Instagram, but some of those ones could also be doubles with various accounts, but some definitely look more like the cheap complete board makers, more so than pro deck makers.

As for Pop Trading Company, basic details here, just for a reference point anyway:

Yes it is one in the same, even if there feel like small differences between some of the boards, eg DLX / Baker / Element and others all seem exactly the same (made on the same molds / presses), but the Generator boards feel slightly different that are used for shop boards or for local brands that I have skated / stood on (most likely made on different molds / presses in the same place).

Simply speaking, BBS is the woodshop itself, where everything is made.  Generator is their retail arm for blanks used for wholesale accounts that are too small to be directly associated with BBS like most of the main big brands, including those I listed above and most of the top tier brands that everyone knows from the main list.

As to what they have on those Magenta website listings, you can take that as their version of flair, or poetic license so to speak.  Nothing more and definitely nothing to do with a brand name or other reference to heaven.

Another listing or three which are similarly funny:

Holding on to the Pizza 8.25 x 31.825 x 14.25, slight taper towards the nose and tail, unlike the GX which has a fuller nose and stubbier tail. The top pic gives a good idea of the shape:

For those who are familiar with PS Stix, they would know the boards are measured with the concave, so will always show as longer in the factory specs than when measured straight across from tip to tip.

As @rocklobster has put in there, it is 31.825 straight across, but 32.2 or something on the Pizza web site.

I often have people asking about this, or wonder why almost every other woodshop measures straight across, but PS Stix always measure with the concave.  The PS Stix boards seem shorter when put back to back with other boards of similar listed dimensions and that is the reason for it.

Also from looking through the website, some of the boards have listed info with "Shovel nose and tail" so they might have a couple of shapes running there too, a normal rounded / more pointy one and a squared off stubby one.

The top pic used is the same image for all their boards, from the look of it, so they have cut corners there, but some other places that do show every single top of board pic might be a better reference.

Trying to find multiple sites with good pics of the same boards / different shapes has proved difficult.

This is the popsicle shape looking at the pic, I would imagine, but the Pizza web site has it listed as the shovel shape with that graphic, so maybe going in to see it in person somewhere is the best option:

anybody know where pop makes their decks? pop as in pop trading company, eu brand. i have one, it's china made according to their website, but i can't tell where exactly. it has their logo laser etched between the front bolt holes, and then that same logo is printed under them. all natural plies.

I feel like someone talked about this a while back (about this time last year in the 2021 woodshop thread), but no definitive answer as nothing else comes up on searches.

pretty sure they use dwindle.

I think I forgot about this, but saw it again when going through posts on this page and I have added it to the list now.

Makes sense, from looking at those boards, concave, made in China, etc.

Thanks!

.

Ah interesting and good to know that they are actually shorter! The length bothered me a little bit. I don’t like too short decks, but that sounded a bit too long for me
