Just got a new Theories board with a strange marking.
It's egg shaped, and I know they've been on BBS but where the dimple normally is theres a TI

I know clutch does a letter and a number but I checked their website and they dont seem to have anything that matches the shape, or letter markings.
This is the shape-
I've bought another Theories board within the last month that had the normal BBS marking, not sure why they'd go elsewhere for this one.
[close]

My understanding of things, re pandemic shortages was Clutch was able to provide wood to many brands during the time when other woodshops could not keep up with production numbers and supply many of their smaller to medium level, or even some larger accounts with the required product, including the Theories brand, as per what other people had said.

I have also been told that Theories of Atlantis Distribution is one such company that gets blanks in significant numbers and uses their own in house heat transfer machine to put graphics on boards for some (not all) of the brands they distribute, so I could see that as being very possible that they still had a board in certain shapes that was from Clutch.

https://www.theoriesofatlantis.com/pages/toa-distribution

Purely guessing, but T1 could be a special Theories shape, given it doesn't seem like one that is available anywhere else.

All just thoughts though.
That does make sense though!
Had hoped it was bbs but it still seems well constructed, so not the end of the world.

Get hungry on it!

Pennswood

No markings as far as I know.

Stiff, solid boards, steeper kicks, medium concave.

Definitely something new here from Pennswood. Pennsylvania stamp plus deck size.

This is a deck from Spectrum.

Pretty sure that last Scumco drop is not Pennswood even though they are hydro dipped.  Haven't asked Scumco or the Radio shop Instagram about the decks but looks like Control still in the pics I've seen.

.

I was thinking things had settled down a fair bit now too, but I could be wrong.

Definitely way less in the way of changes in the second half of 2022 in brands using different woodshops than there were from 2019 through to 2021 anyway.

There are a few posts and threads I have seen lately which I will not link here, but it is interesting to see what people are saying about a few woodshops, be it good or bad.

I always try to keep this thread very much "Fact only" in what I post and add to listings, but of course there are always still some errors in the main lists on the first page, along with some opinions which are posted.  I get it though, everyone has their own experience with different boards.

Even between ten of the same board, I have had some that last ages and others that have lasted hours, most likely due to how they were skated more than anything else, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth if a board seems to go soggy, chips up easily or just straight up breaks when I didn't feel like I was doing anything break worthy on it.

As to certain people's like or dislike for certain woodshops, that too is not something I have issue with, but I do value having their reasons for it as well, not just comments like "This woodshop is great and this other one is shit" or something like that, which doesn't really help anyone.

At least people in USA generally get much more choice than someone in say EU or here in AU, but there are still differences in supply even between some of the top brands on different continents too, so if anyone notes something different or other than listed, please comment, add pics and other info, etc.

It is all greatly appreciated.

Anyone know where Damage skateboards gets their boards?

https://damagelimited.eu/

They are based out of Spain, their boards are listed as made in Mexico so Clutch is my guess. Those pressed in Generator will proudly state so.

Seems like a few other DGK remakes / clothing companies with gangsta looks and some boards on the side from more recent pics, but going back in their Instagram feed, it was all skateboarding from their beginnings, posts from 2013 at least.

Reminded me of you with this one - forbidden 14 and all that.

Got gifted one of Gurney’s new decks. Pretty rad shape kind of a cross between a sweatpants and street thing.

That's interesting, guess that Tyshawn skates PS (and FA used to be PS) now that King is also PS wood. And Nyjah also skates PS with his brand (and always did on Element). So for all the poo pooing of PS, two of the best skaters doing the craziest shit are choosing PS. I'm glad to see it too, there's so much BBS out there, good to see some more PS brands coming up.

Or maybe since PSSTIX already has their shapes and molds, just go with a product that was already exist then have to recreate it at another wood shop

Saw this on the Girl x Sanrio Kawaii Arcade release

The decks themselves look like the usual China ones with the same branding on the top ply (Designed In Torrance, CA, etc) but the placard says "Made in Mexico"

It's probably an oversight, but it'd be interesting to confirm that Girl moved (at least most of) their production to Mexico.

That is an interesting one - could be as you said, printing oversight, or something else.

Crail had used PS Stix before for some boards.

They also could have been doing limited runs of the colab boards, more so for the local market, but either way, it is different from their normal boards, made in China.

I came across another woodshop and veneer supplier in EU, this one in Germany.

the marbie shapes says 32.2 so its almost there.
Tactics.com can sort by width and wheelbase, but not length.

So you are looking for fairly long boards, medium to short wheelbases with longer kicks?

I think there are quite a few in that category, but more than anything, if you drilled back the tail on some boards, I think you would have pretty much those dimensions.

Overly long boards usually have overly long wheelbases to match, sometimes with big kicks, but more often than not they have kicks that are more nomal, 6.5 to 6.6 tails and 7 or so noses.

A board with 32.5 length and shorter wheelbase is going to have 7.1 or more nose and 6.75 or more tail.

At first glance, without having to change anything, have you tried Alien Workshop 8.75 boards, 14.25 wb and long kicks with a fairly long overall length.  I have one here that almost feels too long and wide when compared to other similar width boards with longer wheelbases and maybe more proportionate dimensions, but that might be a good start anyway.
