How do you purchase dsm chop chop woodshop wholesale or oem?
[close]
This!
I want to know as well.

I wonder if the minimums are extreme, eg 1000 units minimum or what, but I am guessing that someone like Louie Barletta would have the contact and info, but maybe not share with just anyone.

Could try contacting someone at Globe / Hardcore as well, if they are still the owners of the DSM woodshop.

Never really tried or thought about it, but I know some shops and other small businesses have used DSM wood in the past, so it mustn't be too hard, once you have someone to talk to.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Traffic and Hopps Europe are mdcn. I just bought two of them. Their EU shapes are much different too. They basically sold their licenses for Europe to mdcn who prints legal counterfeits. They are priced as if they were imported.
Both of them only lasted me two session. mdcn wood is terrible!

On Nikolai Piombo’s episode of the Nine Club he mentions that WKND just switched from PS to Bareback. Haven’t seen any in the wild but he said he’s stoked on the change and that the PS boards were “inconsistent.”

Dang, chalk up another loss for PS.

It does sound like that is an ongoing concern there from other brands too.

Can't really say anything else though, rumours and everything else aside.

The wild part was that he said he prefers mellow boards, both kick and concave. Wonder if he goes through stacks.

I believe BBS does have mellow presses, just the same as they have steep presses, as well as the more middle of the road presses for everything else.

A good number of a certain brand I got on clearance a while back were all way more mellow than average, which was great, but I just have to take the graphics off first, which I don't mind doing at the price I got them at.

As per any brand though, I could guess that the team riders / owners or people who have access could definitely go through and pull whatever boards they prefer to ride themselves and everything else gets shipped out to stores.  It happens at a distribution level as well, checking through certain boards that come in for DLX numbers is not uncommon.

Even when I got half a dozen boards of the same ones, I would often go through and mark them I to IV just cause I can, then keep the III or IV and pass on the rest to others who prefer steeper boards.

That’s true! Appreciate that context. Didn’t realize BBS did a mellow mold.

For a long time they were using BBS, as said by someone who worked for them who was on here too.

No idea if that has changed now though.

Is that "✦ PLEASE ALLOW 10 - 14 business days on ALL PRODUCT ORDERS TO LEAVE OUR FACILITY FROM DATE OF PURCHASE." pretty normal?

Makes me think they don't carry stock and print on order?

Their other info is a bit on the weird / random / boutique side, but they are on BBS wood, reasonable shapes / dimensions, so that is a plus.

That shape looks pretty cool for a fun cruiser type board and reminds me of a Polar board I have somewhere.

From the Twin thread.

Thanks Rocklobster and Nth syd bear for the info!

https://www.smokebeerskateboards.com/products/bananas-kolsch

Smoke Beer has got some big twins now.  This one is a 10' ^^

Interesting, they're using DSM / Resin-7 for their boards, meaning the woodshop has twin molds in stock and we should get more R7 twins in 2025, the immediate one that comes to mind if the Opera 8.5. Louie (Jacuzzi Unlimited) mentioned over DM they're working on a twin shape for John Dilo too.

I noticed that R7 on the listing and immediately was wondering if it was DSM wood too.

Good to hear some people are still able to get boards made to whatever they want from DSM, as well as twins now too.

https://www.smokebeerskateboards.com/collections/decks

They have boards of many shapes and sizes including a 10" with 14.375 wb, various twins, etc.

Interesting to see at any rate.

Late reply but I just saw that clip on YT as well. Bummed cus I really liked the short 8.25 shape they made on PS. Hopefully the dims stay the same. I noticed that when companies move from PS the boards get longer since they’re measured differently. None of my locals stock WKND boards so I have no way of checking.

Oh yeah, I like that. I can’t do another 9 inch board right now. I need something like 875 to 8.12. I’m getting 5.2s maybe if I do go that low.

I need to stay with shapes.

Plus I bet there have been a whole lot of dissatisfied customers who have ordered a PS Stix deck online only to realize their expected dims are off 'cause the Prof keeps on measuring the decks by the surface/curve, which is something no one else does.

yup and instead of trying to change that he will give you a 30 minute speech on why that's the correct way to measure them and how the rest of the industry is wrong

also i hate that he speaks in hashtags on ig and i hate that "fingers of flat" is a thing because of him, like motherfucker i can bet my house that my fingers are not the same size as yours, therefore it's a bullshit way to measure shit, unless a finger is a legit measuring unit in the usa like feet are, but i think i would have heard of that by now.

Yeah never could stand the fingers of flat crap, also Ben D. is notorious for waving that flag, it's just a load of horseshit, I mean, my finger is f*cking twice the width to that of my nephew's, don't feed the kids with vague bs.

Agree with the fingers of flat. Total bs. Not even the difference in fingers size but with the other factors that make a decision to buy a board. Wheelbase, and steepness of kicks. Sure the board I like has two fingers of flat. This other board here is too! But the tail is super fuckin steep and the wheelbase is 14.5.
We rode 7.5's" and didn't complain.

Was the fingers of flat thing brought up by Paul Schmitt? I think he was the first person I heard talk about it and then it seemed like more and more people would mention it.

I don’t buy into the fingers of flat thing either.

I always say areas between the baseplate and nose.
I like my boards with a lot of space on there to sit on noselides comfortably and switch pop with less effort.

But yeah saying fingers of flat is stupid.
