When I was 11 I ollied the Etnies skatepark 11. It was my friend's birthday party and my first attempt I slipped out and smacked my back and head (thank you helmet rules). I actually pissed blood for a week after that. Even got a scope done and the doctors said I must've hit my kidneys pretty hard. Felt like I was pissing glass when the anesthesia wore off.

Ollied that same stairset again when I was like 14. I was kind of a stairs guy back then but mainly 6-10.

Biggest set I ever ollied was in high school. It was a tall 13 at my high school. Mason Silva varial heel'd it when he was like 14. After that I pretty much stuck to flip tricks down 6 stairs haha.

Now my limit is like 4-5 haha. Give me a ledge and some curbs and a manny pad or something haha. My knees and ankles can't take that impact shit anymore.

I’ve been old since the 90’s so I’ve subscribed to : if you can’t Ollie up it….don’t Ollie off of it….

make your 20 years future self a favor and don't jump stairs

I know this post is coming up on a year now, but this is such a tired argument.  I used to skate stairs and the biggest I ever tried to Ollie was a 12 stair, so it’s not huge.  (Midwest 12 so a California 14 maybe  ;) ) my mom used to say crap like that, and I’m almost late 30s right now and have a career and barely have time to skate anymore.  Do that crazy shit while you can and while you’re on your parents health insurance.

Ollied a 12 (Loyola College, Baltimore, MD) back in my hucking days. I was probably 14ish.

There was this 13-stair that always HAUNTED me. Had a couple sessions where I rolled up to it like 10-15 times and could never make myself take the plunge. Still think about it to this day lol It was REALLY tall but not super long so basically just a huge drop. Kinda shit where you can't see the landing at all when you're rolling up to it.

Nowadays (I'm 31), I max out at like 6. Even that is a bit hefty. Pretty comfortable up to like 4 and then after that it starts feeling like I don't really wanna do much else other than an ollie and front 180. On my 30th birthday, I told myself I was gonna go huck down something big just to feel young again. Rolled up to a big 9 a few times and decided against it lol

I’m just a couple years away from pushing 40, but have recently re-caught the itch to jump some stairs.  @poopnutsupreme inspired me with the kickflip he posted down that big stack.

The most I did back in the day was 7, and I ollied a 4 pretty easily the other day.  I’m thinking I could do a 6 if I found a smaller one and was properly warmed up.  Anyone else here past their prime but still taking drops?

I feel like there’s a point of diminishing returns and that’s probably around 6-7 for me, unless I start training and stretching more which likely isn’t happening.

I've jacked my knees and mostly skate straight drops rather than stairs. That being said, 5 with ollie, 6 with boneless.

ollied a high 9 stair and a long 11 stair. 9 was worse cause of like 10 feet runup and the roughest flat i have ever skated(in the landing). the 11 stair is a good one.

I landed on my board on a 12 stair. Kicked out the next try and called it a career on double digits. 9 is most i landed.

Ollied Bercy block 4 in Paris which works out at a 12 set, did it once then tried it again and rinsed my ankle... shit end to my trip but had a blast there, was the first skate trip I went on at 16 years old, I'm 34 now and 8 stairs is my limit for tricks nowadays.

8 was my limit back in the early 2000s.  I was never big on jumping stairs.  I tried a 9 once and it scared the shit out of me. Seemed WAY bigger than the 8 I had done. I don't know if my old man knees could take a 3 or 4 stair nowadays

Tried kickflipping a six stair back in high school, never got it.

Nollie heeled a four stair in my college days.

Haven't really skated stairs much since then lol.

9 biggish sized
11 mini stairs that looked smaller than the 9

I'm prouder of doing a longish 3 flat 3 that stretched out and took more to commit. You had push hard and ollie high to make it happen.
this is in kirkwood right? i ollied this when i was 15 lol

Interesting to see a lot of people saying 12. I also tapped out there. I remember looking at a 13 and thinking “hell no.”

Something about frontside 180s being easier than Ollie’s, when it comes to stairs . I have a lot more confidence being busy in the air rather than just having the hang time

I hate skating stairs honestly, I only know what I know by years of being forced to skate them with my friends who are way better than me in my teen years , stairs aren’t as bad as drops tho, skating a drop is dumb.

But the biggest I’ve done was 12 , fractured my heel trying a 16 and I can skate an 8 stair and smaller with a small bag of tricks but I prefer not to, If I’m stoned tho and I’m feeling it I’ll try to keep my stair game up and try to make it fun.
