A local pro once told me "you should take it for granted that you can skate any brand you want"

A pro on Silver trucks told me something similar.

Starting out I tried maybe 50-60 different boards before going to revisit a favourite few and settling into one shape now for about half a year. Been really liking the consistency of not having to relearn kickflips - easily my most 'lost and found' trick - and find myself progressing a lot more by doing so. Might branch out again since I've been thinking of sizing down

I’m a mess with too many setups going. Very uncomfortable

I don't like changing my shape. I want to progress at skateboarding and in the past when I've gotten a new board it takes me a while to get used to it. Some of my tricks feel completely different on a new board. It isn't worth it to me. Shit, I don't even really like changing my sheos that much. There is no better feeling than setting up a new board that is the exact same shape as your last board, except fresh.

Width and WB gotta stay consistent, but I do find it fun to go from medium to steep concave and back again. Also fun to buy a shaped deck and use that for a while when the ol popsicle starts to feel stale...

I think I care way more about wood than other characteristics. I'll ride damn near any shape if it's Pennswood and has a short-ish WB.

The Hjalte-shape (tapered tail, blunt nose) is what I always liked best, but was hard to find. Very happy that it seems to be also Hjalte's favorite shape. Currently have three Hjalte decks. All have wheel wells as the icing on the cake. Absolutely perfect. First time I can skate the old Thunder 149 without getting wheel bite.

I fuck around with a bunch of different sizes and shapes, but I always find myself going back to a standard mid-concave 8" eventually.
