Maybe well get footage of him without the awkward looking boards. No shade to shaped boards but when people who skate traditionally like ryan skate them, it's just distracting and makes me wish they would just have a popsicle.

This dude rips.  I’m ok with the shaped board. I think it’s pretty cool. I’ve never seen anyone tear up Tempe skate park like Mr Lay.  The pop and trick selection is superb.  Skates fast.

Kind of ironic since Welcome just started making popsicle (or pretty close to) shapes recently

Maybe something’s going down over there, seems like things are changing up

I imagine he’s just stepping away from pro skating because frankly it seems like he’s capable of doing better things with his life, but it would be sick to see him on a company that’s actually cool.

I love his skating. And I like shaped boards, but his style calls for a traditional board to me. No way to explain it further haha.

Not sure what the circumstances of his departure were but I'm glad to see him of. Could see him on Krooked, WKND, or something quirky like that. Such a great skater and dude with all the charity stuff he does but he's deserved some better sponsors for awhile now. Imagine riding for Krux.

He's still continuing to be a pro skater. I think Slap is going to be happy with his new board sponsor when it eventually gets announced/leaked (whichever comes first). Definitely not the brand I would have guessed, but it's a dope fit.

This is good news.  I selfishly want to see him keep skating and not drift away into running a nonprofit or going into academia or something, even though I think he could easily do either of those things and be very successful

I'm not going to be the one that ends up confirming or denying any guesses in here. A group of my friends recently ran into him and the crew skating together and one of them asked to confirm. I'll just say that it's not Darkstar. Sorry Darkstar fans...

Sorry guys, confirmed he’s on bryte and cariuma. Really switching it up.  He stayed on Krux because they are simply the best.

This brand is huge in AZ.  Seems like every other board is a welcome board.  I’ve had one in the quiver for when I feel special.  It was solid.
