The first pop shuv 5050 caught me off guard. Some of those little quick hop tricks he did were insane when you think about the calculations your brain has to make to do that stuff with sight, I can’t even fathom how he’s doing that stuff blind.

I’ve been at the skatepark while Dan was skating and it’s so gnarly. Dude slams so fucking hard and gets up and hits it again. Truly the best dude.

Hats off, truly mind blowing and inspiring.

Anyone else find it ironic that this part released today as well as his 9 club and and adidas and Real are giving zero mention to his 9 club? Lol

Edit: my bad. Real just now posted and included the 9 club.

Don’t get what the big deal is.  Dude skates hella slow and some of those tricks were pretty sloppy imo.

good one  ;)

i can’t imagine how much courage it must take for this dude to do the shit he does. imagine grinding a rail with no vision. after hearing that he progressively lost his vision and wasn’t blind from the get go makes me wonder if that is actually more of a disadvantage. you would assume the contrary because of ‘muscle memory’ and just having the experience already. yet, it’s also like having to completely relearn something all over again instead of just having learned it with the disability to begin with, which seems even more discouraging. from now on when people say “i could do that with my eyes closed” we should put them to the test.

imagine fucking the dog shit outta chris roberts

I wasn’t there when he started skating, but watching him walk into the indoor park and promptly go over to the middle of everything was like watching some Mr Magoo shit, except he was totally aware of everything somehow (even if others weren’t)

Pop shuv it 50-50 on a round rail is hella scary. How the fuck can you try that blind?

Must be a bummer not to be able to see your own part.

Would be curious to see how Dan would fair against a sighted pro in a blindfolded game of skate.

Anyone else ever think about what his pre-blind video footage was like? He talks about how he lived in some skate house in LA and how he loved filming full parts on his nine club. This was before he lost his sight. He must have had a part in some shop or homie video. I briefly tried finding one on YouTube but no luck. Anybody got a link?

He's a bit like Beethoven or something. He makes something but doesn't really get to experience it afterwards.

I hesitate to make facile comments about this because he’s truly amazing but this has also crossed my mind:

Must be a bummer not to be able to see your own part.

I wonder how distinct the kinetic/ tactile memory is that he retains of the tricks he has done since he can’t see the spot either.
