Memory Screen: Tony Turbo
« on: May 04, 2022, 01:25:40 AM »

I recently got hit up on Instagram by Tony Turbo, who filmed with some of your favorite skaters in the early 2000's. He was telling me he had a bunch of unused footage from the DC Video era, and asked me if I'd be interested in making a new video with it. Obviously I was down to check it out, and found out quick, he was sitting on some gold! Some classics, some unseen angles and some never seen before stuff of some of your favorite skaters! So I was glad to make this edit, hope you all enjoy.

Always stoked on the songs you decide to reuse! Another great edit
Crazy to think this footage is almost 20 years old.

Really wild to see that LA plaza that Dill/Ave skated a lot now that I’m a block away from where it used to be by city hall.    I’m guessing it’s just the grass park now

So sick ! I was there the day AVE switch crooked the flushing ledge , as well as Dyrdek smith grinding it . Wish there was some more footy from that day out there, there was another clip in the DC video of Kalis there that day as well. Ryan Gee was also there filming and taking photos .

I was trying to Noseslide it while dyrdek tried the smith and he was pretty cool encouraging me to get it. Think I was 15 at the time . Landed it before him and always felt proud of that moment which is funny to think about now.

Oh ok I thought that was too far to the right based on where city hall was.

Btw, That dirt lot is prominently featured in Ambulance (as are a lot of parts in that area, but the dirt lot just stands out so hard)

But for real that's a rad story, makes me wonder if it was you screaming "WOOOOO" after he rolled away.

Love the music choices @JMSneep

Edit, some standouts:
- Stevie doing the switch pop shove nosegrind in the all white combo (deck, ledge, wife beater)
- Kenny Reed BS lipslide on the ramp to out rail
- AVE's crooked grinds at the curved ledge with the BS (?) 180 out, the angle of the ledge looks like it wants to huck you the opposite way
- AVE's front crook fakie flip out on the curved green bench, knowing the back story of the bench from QS,

Always wondered why Tony Turbo's face was blurred out on Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory.
