“Queens NY before relocating to Edison New Jersey, hustling as a kid selling lemonade and baseball cards, seeing skateboarding explode in the 80’s, starting his media company Vayner Media, his take on marketing in the skateboard world, making decisions that are conflicts between the business opportunity and what your all about, keeping your authenticity, why TikTok is surpassing Instagram & how to utilize it by adding value, core skaters vs YouTube skaters vs TikTok skaters, what he would do if he skated a skateboard company and much more!”

Wow can’t imagine the cultural shock of moving from queens to New Jersey

Their synopsis is a concoction of words that turn me off. After reading the title to braille YouTube videos I didn’t think I could be any more turned off by skate media.

This guy makes his money filming humans fight and throw balls. Justin Barnes would’ve made a far better episode as he actually skates and has also become successful in media marketing

Really wish they would just stop this show before it gets worse but I think they’re going to milk this until not even the ball wash guys wanna sponsor them

The nine club is so fucking garbage.
Using its platform to expose new upcoming and exciting skaters to a larger audience? Nah…
Using it to have grifters that have a close to none relation to the skate world?
Fuck yes!

I was hoping this was some weird late April Fool's joke, fuck that guy.

Protect the bunt. Ugh this guy sucks.

He's like an avatar for late-stage capitalist "hustle culture" and being an "entrepreneur" that is representative of why we are going in the wrong direction as a society.

And what the fuck does this have to do with skateboarding? No.

There are a decent number of skate industry folk who have went on to a successful career in the non-skateboarding marketing/advertising world. Steve Rodriguez comes to mind along with John Rattray and Mark Whiteley.

Lol

I like how no one has ever through to ask why a CEO of a major media company is so big on encouraging young people to make their living with multiple sources of income when he has the power to pay them enough so that they don't have to.

Okay I liked normand  as a jump off episode cause at least he skated and can draw comparisons and is actually pretty entertaining but this is stupid and weird. Y’all couldn’t get Puig when you saw him at the curbs every day for a month but you can get some weird hyper capitalist little person who’s never skated in his life?

They did recently mention that they’re going to start occasionally branching outside of skateboarding to a wider variety of guests. Idk who this dude is tho lol I wanna see like the Stranger Things kids in the seat.

Chris Roberts: "Welcome back to the nine club where we have a special...special guest today, Shaquille O'Neill."

Shaq: "Hey!"

CR: "Shaq have you ever skateboarded before?"

Shaq: "No"

CR: "Did you have friends who skateboarded growing up?"

Shaq: "No"

CR: "Wow!"

It's funny thinking back to their response to the Mark Oblow backlash, and how they said they are going to be more vigilant to challenge their guests, however, they are venturing further and further away from subject matter that they have any expertise in discussing. The Mark Normand episode got weird when he went into a tired spiel about cancel culture and not one person asked him to give proof of any of the claims he was putting out there.

Will watch and keep an open mind. I think a lot of people on here have a pretty wrong impression of the guy and might actually be surprised if they’d listen. I get the hate as well a bit, but it’s pretty funny how hard people go against these types of personalities and frankly a lot of things non skate related. You can usually get some value from some different areas of life and it’s not like this show isn’t 99.5% skate related anyways. Good for them if they want to broaden their audience a bit.

Just empty fluff backdropped to documentary-style music.
