Feel for him. I was half asleep before my shift one day and heard my door open, and then footsteps, thought it was my son coming home until my bedroom door opened and our dog went nuts.
He chased these two kids out of the house thankfully.
I went back to sleep, and when I got up an hour later these morons are in our backyard scoping out other houses. I chased them off with a bat and called the cops.
I could tell the police thought I was nuts when they were taking the report, like this idiot was half asleep he dreamt this. Then they get a call about two kids running up the road near our house who had broken into another home a few blocks over, wearing the exact clothes I gave in my report.
Went with the cops to ID them where they had caught them. Went to court months later, only one of them showed up, he got off, he’d been detained until the trial, so time served thing plus he was under age, from a decent family, apparently the other kid he was with had hyped him up to do this.
I’m sure it was just a dumb thrill thing for them, but like me the other peeps houses they had broken into, and even the judge told him, he was lucky none of us had a gun that day because he could be dead right now.
It’s definitely an unsettling experience, I didn’t sleep right for a month after. Just glad my little ass dog was so protective. He’s a scruffy mutt but he’s loud as hell.
