I liked skate more quite a lot to be honest. Good parts, cool animations.
If I'd watch it now I'd probably be underwhelmed as well because the level of skateboarding has progressed so much ...
So I keep the time it was filmed always in the back of my mind, and even then it has some cool parts (still love Dill's part).


That Ice Cream video was already terrible back then.
So much crap in there that didn't have anything to do with skating ...

It's a weird one for sure, but has some stellar moments and parts.

Personal favs;
Jeron's part and Jereme's part skating to Canned Heat is great. Has a mean switch 360 flip in there.

Definitely not the worst of the era though, when videos like rhat Ice Cream one exist.

Land Pirates is probably the worst skate video in my opinion. If someone has something good to say about that video I'd like to hear it. I don't think we sold a single copy of it at the shop I was working in at the time.

i remember watching/taping that onto vhs off of the extreme channel here in the uk and then swiftly re recording a couple logics over it that were being shown just after. luckily that was a typical wet british day so i couldnt go skate outside anyway but still, that was time ill never get back.

I could have had a few tricks in this video, if I wasn't lazy. The whole euro team was supposed to have stuff actually,but wasnt enough footage, if I remember correctly. Or it just sucked.  I saw it right before the premier on a hotel room in Irland with Jereme, Berra and Jeron, upon just meeting them first time an hour before.  I really think the video benefited from the euros having no footage

Dill, Busenitz, Huf, Daewon, and Jeron all had good stuff in there. I had this shit on repeat as a kid so maybe I'm biased, but there are definitely WAY worse videos lol. Should've just bumped the "2005 unpopular opinion thread" with this one.

There was a short time in the early 00s where I only had yeah right, DC video, hot choc and skate more and kinda have to disagree with the yeah right throwaway comment (hot choc is literally throw away from yeah right mixed with two mins of tour footy) if you watch them back to back (which was often the case at the time) skate more seems about right as Chico,jeron etc two years later just has no Koston or MJ to really up the grade.

Interesting to rewatch this for the first time in a decade plus. A few thoughts:

Kerry Getz screaming and carrying on is still very cringey. I feel like the focus on that on this part kinda killed his career a bit.

Around the 17.25 mark Jeron drags his foot to slow down mid line. I don't reckon that would fly these days or then either for that matter.

Dill's part is great.

Chico's part is 50% nollie heels. Notable exception is Reynolds' lovely nollie bs 180 down Country Road.

One thing that is really strange in this video is the shared part between Daniel Castillo and Torey Pudwill. Not only is this a seemingly bizarre combo but they use Kerry Getz's song from Mosaic (2 years before Skate More). What's up with that? Kerry Getz is in the video so surely he would of said something or you would assume the editor would of watched KG's previous parts right?

I'm not sure I would of appreciated it as much at the time but the Zered and DB part rules. Another weird combo.

I can't give Daewon's part enough praise. This part really opened my eyes to the diversity of his skills and that he wasn't just an incredible manual/picnic table guy. Daewon was like a cyborg skater from outer space he was so far ahead of everyone else at this point.

So I had a lot of these same thoughts, especially the kerry getz temper tantrum montage (it’s hard to believe his “hockey temper” thing was supposed to be a selling point for him) and Jerons toe drag mid line. I’ll need to go back and watch some other Jeron parts because I was pretty underwhelmed by his part. Trick selection isn’t bad but his style is not very pleasant to me at all. His style reminds me of current torey pudwill, arms flailing but also really stiff.

I mentioned this before but yeah right was the formative video of my youth, and a lot of it Holds up and is still progressive for today, and it dropped two years before this video…

Obviously it’s not the “worst” video but it was a fun hot take to drop on the board. I’ve been enjoying everyone’s opinions and memories. Way more J. Casanova love than I expected.

Skate More is pretty good at best and okay at worst. The Zered/Busenitz part set to the wizard is worth the price of admission alone.

I actually think "Skate More" is underrated in a lot of ways. It doesn't have the best soundtrack but it has some amazing skating. One of Daewon's best parts, a great Dill part, a very well edited HUF part (the tre flip gap at third and army still blows my mind), Zered and Dennis sharing a part, and even a really good Jereme Rogers part (pre rap career).

I really like Skate More and its soundtrack. But perhaps my opinion is skewed by nostalgia. I downloaded it on Limewire in high school and it looked somehow worse than 180p.
