Crust is all about wheel size and shape and good urethane. You can put 54mm Conical Fulls on an 8 and it will handle crust.

I'm talking 7.5 to 8.0
Maybe 8.12 can sneak in but barely.

I'm 6'4 with size 12 feet and I ride 7.75 ideally but will ride 8's in a pinch. Thunder hollow light low and 50mm STF.
I love how light and responsive narrow decks are. It's a whole different experience than riding 8.25+ boards, especially factoring in the wider trucks. I've never had an issue with not having enough board to catch and land on.

My homies will be like "bruh it's like you're riding a tech deck out here". I'll kick it over to them, they'll jump on it and blast the biggest kick flips and 360 flips I've ever seen them do, then they'll kick it back to me like "ugh, how do you ride this thing?". I'm like bro you just blasted that 360 flip 2 feet in the air, your 360 flips usually scrape on the ground.

Oh well. Anyone else got love for narrow decks?

I remember this guy who used to come to my local park. 6’-5 if he was an inch, and rode a 7.75. He was a college high jumper. Snapped and caught his kickflips so high, it felt like his board was level with my chest every time he did one. Maybe they were.

But then too, there was this little muscular dude built like a gymnast. 5’-6 ish, big ol’ shoulders. Maybe he was riding a 9, or maybe it just looked that way because his feet were so little. You know how some dudes’ stance just seems wide and rock-solid, like they could pop out into any kind of crust and just roll away? Guy was like that. Had super stylish nollie pop out of crooked grinds. Made big tuck-knee indy airs over the hip look easy too.

I guess I just love to see someone looking un-fuckwithable on their board.

Are these tiny decks good for anything aside from doing flat at the skatepark?  I never really see anyone doing actual street skating with them.

EDIT-Im just wondering, i dont have a fair position in this as i have a size 12 shoe and therefore look stupid on anything below an 8.25

Mostly smaller obstacles. If you're doing big stuff, obviously not a bunch of flip in flip outs on massive handrails. You can still huck down stairs or drops though.
They're snappier on banks, pyramids, and bumps. Round rails are easier too.

Tom Penny, PJ Ladd, Eric Koston (used to), and Daewon Song, all ride 7.75s.
Pat Duffy, Jamie Thomas and Ali Boulala did massive stairs/handrails with them back in the day, but they were fearless dudes.
