I once met a kid who called grinds „truck slides“.

There are certain skateparks that have this weird angle iron that almost feels soft or something, I'm not sure how to explain it. Either way, you get absolutely no grind sound or feedback. I hate the way it feels and always describe it "you don't grind these ledges, you truck slide them".

I just find this hard to believe. To do a pop shove it in Tony hawk, you hit the flip button. And to do a nose slide or tail slide, you hit the grind button. Seems straightforward to me?

I don‘t remember as this was in the 90s but it became a running gag with my crew. So strange to think of that kid but now I remember he was called Jethro and he was also a beatboxer.

I had a conversation with someone working in the Apple store the other day about skating who ended up calling skating a skatepark "vert skating". That seems to happen quite often with people that used to skate. I wonder if it's something to do with THPS that only had street and vert as the two disciplines for the pros.
