[WARNING: Awful AWFUL audio... don't turn it up too loud or you might get ear blasted]
I saw a bunch of pros I follow posting from this event, so I checked it out. Mostly non-contest skaters participating. Baker, Quasi, Hockey, Palace etc. all got to make their own obstacles for the event for the skaters to skate (the Quasi one looks amazing). Really cool idea. They've even got a ramp over a car, which all contests should have.
They're calling it an "inclusive" skate contest. The contest is just sorta jam sessions... men and women skating together. No official point system, just based on vibes. Mens' and womens' 1st place both getting $10K for the prize.
However, the stream of it is really really rough. Constant audio problems. Weird cheesy stock music playing in the background while they skate. Its to cover up the copyrighted music that's actually playing at the event... but man for such a cool event having stock music over it is such a hilarious contrast. It wouldn't be too bad, but its often mixed way too loud. Its even playing over the commentators just chatting at the desk together.
Seems closer to what skateboard "contests" should be. Wondering if anyone else saw some cool IG clips from it or anything. Anyone watch it live or in-person?
EDIT: I think more contests need to have jam sessions to stock music rip-offs of Ace of Spades, Bohemian Like You, and The Home Depot Theme Song like this one has.
