All of those changes would make it worse than it is now IMO, but I'd rather that than it die out. I can imagine if it went on for a few more months it would start to get VERY obscure so maybe repeating videos isn't too bad an idea once the pool dries up.If there were, say, 500 videos in total then that would be well over a year before a vid repeats and it would barely be noticeable.

Do you mean evenly spaced throughout the video? Or how do I make the individual clips themselves?

i think he meant, how would you get it to cut clips at the beginning and end of tricks

Oh I’ve had that part figured out from the beginning. I’m using this tool called ffmpeg which can manipulate videos in all sorts of ways.

It has a feature called scene detection which can detect changes in scenes and chop up videos. The only clips it doesn’t do well with are fade transistions and clips which have a photographers flash going off.

The difficult part is being able to select a decent representation of 6 clips from those chopped up clips as picking totally random clips might not yield a “good” game. For example could pick extremely obscure clips etc which is why I was asking if that would be acceptable.

Sounds like automating it would make things much easier for you. I think it’ll make the game more difficult.

The open call for submissions is cool. I have some videos I’d suggest, but not the source material in a digital format to get you all set up with time stamps. I wonder if you could recruit a couple skate nerds to help you choose videoes and clips? That could lighten your work and keep the presentation similar.

As a mid20s year old idk how much of a hot take this is: this vid was HUGE for everyone in both my circle and other friend groups in the same age. Out of the videos that came out from this group of skaters this is randomly my top one for soundtrack, time, and last part out of their batch of video outputs (give or take a four year span). There was both a level of fun and gnarly that had the perfect balance idk
