I’d go Pops over Paines any day.  Never really enjoyed Paines.  Would prefer they raze it and replace it with 3 Ave benches and a Rita’s.

if you've been in the city for years (you fuckin transplant) and you're still too dumb to find another ledge spot (there are like five skateparks in the williamsburg/bushwick/greenpoint triangle alone), that's on you

regardless you won't be missed

I grew up in apartments and a trailer park because my mom had to move upstate for cheaper rent, and she actually just got priced out of there, but sure, go off, my whole family is blue collar and worked harder than your fake ass Carhartt WIP wearing tech job. NY atm is comparable to LA with the influencer cool guy shit, and I literally watch shops sponsor kids from the fucking midwest over basically pro locals outta queens lol. Hope your Stockholm syndrome pays rent though, or you know, your mom and dad.

Isn’t the whole draw of NYC based around the feasibility of being able to skate from point a to b, and all the random shit you can encounter along the way? So isn’t comparing spots to Philadelphia kinda pointless unless you are filming a project?

You can pretty much do the same thing in Philly there’s tons of spots all over the place and for the most part the city is pretty traversable by skateboard

i always had that impression as well. i liekd the idea of going to philly to go to love park in the late 90s though because you could have the chance to meet other skaters who could maybe take you to more spots etc. (or take your money  ;D)  NYC never has had a spot as iconic and central as Love Park. its just way too big and spread out. Flushing Meadows is pretty close but i think you can only skate there certain times of the year maybe? Union Square seems pretty main, but as a spot it does not seem like its that good actaully lol. have to be really insane / creative to get a clip there.

its not even a good skate spot either though
love is actaully a good spot, like J Kwon
i understand the difference though. the spot doesnt need to be amazing, i guess i am just saying it sees a lot more video parts at love park because the spot is also really really good. the island in san francisco hardly sees any footage either but it is a pretty iconic and main place to meet up with peeps.

Next time I come in to the city I wanna see some love like it's 1994.

New York is the greatest city on the planet and skaters should always be nice to each other.

I'll do the same shit when skaters are out here because I love you
Plz stop killing each other

i dont understand what's going on here, are we just listing spots now? are we comparing like one vs the other? if you want to look at sheer numbers nyc is gonna win because its like 5x the size but i dont think it matters, they're different cities with different spots and theyre two hours apart. go skate both.

there's plenty to have rivalries about but spots ain't it

Brooklyn Banks is easily as iconic as Love but not as central to other skate spots as Love (because Philly is tiny compared to NYC but but still plenty of spots within pushing distance from Brooklyn Banks).  Regarding my own personal preferences I liked skating the small Brooklyn Banks (the ones at the top) more than I liked skating Love (although I had a solid ledge game for a long time ledge skating has never been my favorite).  In terms of plazas I will say that Love is arguably the best plaza ever in terms of variety and second in smoothness (Pulaski is #1 in smoothness).
