New bearings missing ball separator

Just set up a new set of bearings and popped the shields off only to find on one of them that the ball separator was not in there. Someone in the factory must have forgot to add it.

This got me thinking about bearing blowouts I have had before and I remember one or two where I could not locate the separator.

Anyone else had this? I guess you would not know unless you popped the shields off or had a blow out

Ball separator sounds like a bad Google translation off the menu of one of those Japanese brothels.

If you don't want to sound like that, call it a retainer or crown. If it's the old steel style it's typically referred to as a cage but there's really no good reason to skate those these days.
