i'm sure this is gnarly if your've been there but it seems like something danny way could have done 20 years ago. only saying that because it's a cover and the covers have been really memorable and gnarly these past few years.

This is memorable because channel street just reopened, and thrasher blessed one of San Pedro’s own with a cover at home turf.

The trick behind the cover was to get Channel Street skateable again. Not to take away from the actual trick, which is totally insane.

Why was channel street closed/unskateable?

They had to fight for a very long time to get it reopened again. They put cement barriers and sand in the bowls to make it unskateable. I think because they had to do some construction for the freeway.
The skatepark ended up being swarmed by tweakers and homeless people and could not be skated.
I think it took them several years to convince the city to reopen it. They had to install fencing and had to deal with all the political bullshit for a long long time.

Well he didn't? Danny Way prob could have done a majority of transition focused covers of the last decade so I'm not sure what the point is.

He’s saying he is underwhelmed by the choice of photo for a cover.

D Way never looked as good as Ronnie.

And Ronnie never looked as good as jimmy Wilkins or pushed both street and vert skating at the same time like Danny.

Ronnie’s sick, I just don’t think this cover stands out like most of the recent ones have.

Please stop talking about danny way street skating, it was ugly looking and the reason why he doesn't do it anymore.

Strong disagree on that one. Jimmy Wilkins is amazing but that's a different deal. Ronnie refined the classics and brought them into the modern age. Not many people doing inverts like him on tricky tight concrete transitions. Fully backing his cover. Not sure why every cover has to be a gnarly NBD.

Cover can be a great photo, however…

My Table of Contents photo better be bananas!
