Check the weather to make sure it isn't supposed to rain, pack a cone or twist one, maybe buy a tallboy from the corner store, stretch thoroughly, and walla! I'm ready to hurt myself!

I like to skate on an empty stomach, black coffee, and some herb. I skate better if I run that morning. Probably skate better if I'm regularly meditating and practicing yoga as well.

I felt like that a few years ago. Shit ain't easy sometimes.
Even if you don't feel like doing tricks, just grab your board and cruise around. Fuck all that bullshit in this world.
Just push your ass off! Trust me on this.

One day you will be too old for any of this skateboard shit and I don't want you to regret those times you had, to go out and skate. It ain't that serious. Just have fun and play around. If you feel like talking, let me know.

Depends. The group chat can start as early as 8am and last as late as 5pm before we decide where we’re gonna skate. Talking to everyone the night before to see what everyone’s feeling seems to be a good trick to speed up the process

Wake up, clothes on, coffee in hand, hopefully drop a deuce, at the park/spot 30min later. That's just Dad life.

I have to be fed, (big meal 2-3 hours before skate and may be some dates and nuts just before i go out)
well hydrated
take a dump if necessary
do a couple of sun salutations or other dynamic streches
and i push in the streets, do some ollies, shuvs and powerslides when going to the spots downtown. It is a good warm up and actually it is one of the most enjoyable parts of my session.

The idea of just waking up and having a short, productive session right before work without feeling like a zombie all day after is crazy to me
This is the only way I don't feel like a zombie at work. I do sit for a majority of my job though.

Hit the homies up to set a destination, throw a water in my skate bag, load the skateboard up on the bike or in the trunk, and hit the road.

Just ask my boss "permission to rip sir?" then get it going.

in all seriousness I usually on skate in the afternoons now so make sure I have a good lunch, drink plenty of water throughout the day. Foam roll at home before the session due to back injury's, take some pain meds. Once there stretch the legs out then roll around for awhile until the legs are moving then good to go.

None, no stretching, no shitting, no food. Shit I don’t even tie my shoes til I’m at the spot. Most of my sessions are after work so I already have most of it all sorted. Still have a bad habit of not eating all day though.
Went on a skate trip yesterday and the homie asked if I wanted to hit a spot, it was 7:30 am… so I got a coffee at the gas station and smoked a little weed then I was ready.

Interesting. It took me too long to realize I have to eat before skating.
If I go in on an empty stomach I'll get lil lightheaded about half way through the session.
Not, like, alarmingly lightheaded, juuuuust enough to make me question my balance.

As a 43 year old man, I stretch first and foremost. I keep a simple skate plan, re-learn an old trick every session. Sometimes I try a new mini ramp lip trick, or variation on an old one. These small, attainable goals keep me coming back for more.

Oh yeah, and usually hurt myself in the process lol

banana and hydrate before I leave, coffee when i show up - maybe a mars bar if im feeling like a bad boy. 10 minute stretch and dart, brace on the left ankle. biosteel and water to hydrate during the session, maybe some tall cans if its a later sesh and im with friends.

seriously if you guys havnt discovered biosteel, shit is a miracle drink. amazing for avoiding feeling sluggish later in the sesh and recovery. also the best hangover cure. lots of potassium and electrolytes with no sugar. its a canadian company so its easy to find here but idk about the states and elsewhere

I'm near 40, so I write what I want to try in the session and before anything, I jump rope for like 30 mins., practice those weird jump rope movements and after that I'm good to go for a 3 hr. session. stretch after the sesh and when I come home a good meal, a nice cup of coffee and then rest will do it for me. If I feel a little weird or sore the next day, I just jump rope and then see how I'm feeling for another session. It usually works.

I’m 41, and do a skateboard legs workout 2 times a week, and cardio every other day. The legs workout has been great, it’s mostly different squats, but different stuff to pop up and some exercises for impact. Plus I bought a $100 poly metrics box off Amazon and it’s a side table by my couch and that works good for me.

I think everyone I know over 40 or do has something that they do that works for them.

Almost 47.

What’s been working for me, besides doing some basic working out during the week is about an hour or so before the skate is

warm up by doing some squats while balancing on a long foam roller

Roll the back and legs

Stretch them out

And when I get to the park, warm up for about 20 minutes with slappies, hit the quarterpipe, keep the wheels on the ground. After I’m warmed up, I’ll start ollieing and some kickflips, then try some stuff. I’m not ‘peak skating’ until about 30-40 min in, and then it only lasts as long as my energy lasts, which is getting shorter as I get older.
I’m trying to be every mom’s favorite skater’-&&
