Jon Cromer RIP
« on: October 04, 2022, 03:27:44 PM »
Don’t know much about him, which makes me the worst to post about first. Remember seeing him in 411/411 Europe contest video.

Wishing his family peace. Too young, that’s for sure.

Do you mean Jon Comer? Ex Powell pro with one foot? Dude was sick! Bummer if that’s who you mean.

Oh shit, just looked at his Instagram and he passed a few years ago.

Not knowing much about him has become accurate, considering being 3 years late and spelling dudes name wrong.

Sorry legends. Saw someone post on instagram and should have dug harder on it. Requested to have this removed by mods because I can’t find out how to do it on my own

Haha love you dudes. As much as I’d love to get rid of my dumb post. I love the dichotomy(did I use this right?) of the posts. I love the fun jabs, and appreciate those who are able to pay their respects to a legend. You guys are why I won’t be shy to post again soon, tho, maybe with more caution hahah

I used to watch him rip the old Jeff Philips park in Dallas quite often when I was just a young buck. He had lines for days at that place. RIP both Jeff and Jon. Both legends gone too early.

This part amazed me as a kid. Jon was a pioneer when it came to a skater with a handicap. He never seemed to make it an excuse for his skating it seemed like from a far. Never met the guy but from what ever videos and interviews that he was featured in.

This part was part of my early days of skating:

Lots of the current tx rippers came out from under Jon’s wing when he managed an indoor park here. He was always an endlessly kind and supportive “pad nanny” (self-proclaimed, if memory serves me correct). I wrote one of my college entry essays on Jon and his impact on not only myself but the kids around me.

I remember one time, he told a 9 year old me that  if I wanted to be a “skate monk” (a little crew name or something he had with some friends) I’d have to take an hour long vow of silence. Dude just wanted me to shut the fuck up for five seconds.

I also remember him letting me skate late a few times after the park closed because my parents were late to picking me up.

Jon was one of the realest.

For a fraction of a second I read Brad Cromer and got super anxious.
I think it’s because it’s early morning here.

Rest In Peace regardless, way before my time but it’s good to get to know new old skaters, and huge respect for doing that with his “problem”.
video tape yourself saving monks. dont just do it. make sure its caught on film.

Can someone get the name right for this thread?   It's the most important word in anyone's language.

I respected this man so much, imagine turning up as a youngster at the park and skating with only one leg.   Pure grit.   Sad loss as i think he could have done wonders for getting disabled people involved in skateboarding, (much like they have done for girls)

Didn't he do a 360flip in his 411 part?

RIP Jon Comer

Jon Comer ripped, I saw his 411 part right when I started skating and it was humbling to see a guy destroy on a skateboard with a prosthetic leg.
I was aware of his passing in 2019, but this a a great opportunity to give him more well deserved shine
