didnt nick merlino do that like 20 years ago
[close]
He did. But again he doesnít have the cool sponsors.
[close]

Do you have a link or know which part it's in? I'd love to see Merlino's too. Contrary to popular belief being stoked is not a zero-sum game, so I'm always happy to see more rad stuff.

Itís not in there. I looked up the actual part though and he does do it. Iím too lazy to learn how to post YouTube vids so youíll have to look up Foundation WTF.

(Iíd never seen that part and holy shit is it nuts. Holds up very well)

The problem is that 95% of Louie's tricks could be done by a wide variety of other skaters.

Someone mentioned this at some point in one of the many Tyshawn threads

I feel like everyone talking shit needs to go back and watch his Blessed part
[close]

I feel like this is one of the most overlooked tricks of all time. There should've been 4 different threads about this alone
[close]

Itís what happens when you paywall videos in this day and age
[close]

Paywall plus bad/risky filming style with no alternative angles as collateral. I really think most of the tricks don't have a proper sense of context/scale due to how they were filmed.

Yep, 100% the angle, I fucking hate almost every stair/rail trick filmed from this angle because you just really canít appreciate what is happening.

I pointed this out in another thread because some fool said "he doesn skate rails as well as other pros

I said he's not the conversation as one of the best rail skaters and he isn't and said  there are a bunch of pros better than him at rails and there are.
One trick don't change that.  So guy is one of the best rail skaters cuz he switch tre'd fakie 5-0'd one? Guess people haven't seen what's been going down on rails for years..

Switch 360 flip nosegrind*. I wouldnít consider Tyshawn a rail chomper but I wouldnít be surprised if he could do any rail you put him in front of. I donít see him seeking out the biggest rail to 5050 or boardslide, his parts seem a little more curated. For instance the Switch Ollie over to nosegrind the NYC playground rail in The General was sick and not something you see in any given part.

So you're saying to be SOTY, you need to be good at everything: manuals, rails, gaps, transition, etc.

then why did Daveeed, Milton or Suciu win SOTY?

I understand in your opinion, SOTY should be more well-rounded. But you clearly just see TJ as just a "flatground" and "pops high" kind of skater. Like I said, if you seriously view him as just that kind of skater, you need to re-watch all his footage, come back, and tell me this again.

Select, organize, and present (online content). That definition was from Oxford Dictionaries website. Iíll admit Iím not the best writer or speaker. Are you criticizing the word or my use of it? Either way TJís parts are usually diverse and show him skating many different spots.

It's not often you hear or read people say "curated" but the word "literally" is misused over 1 million times minimum every day for a long while now.

"Literally" was misused so much that it's meaning changed. I've heard now both uses are correct.

My criticism is your use of it (it's nothing personal against you as it's a generational thing/product of the digital age but it's also a huge pet peeve of mine).  Traditionally a curator is one who has care/superintendence of a museum/gallery or other place of exhibit, it is extremely involved, detail oriented and difficult work. There is an insanely large gap between what a museum curator does relative to time/effort/training/expertise vs. someone selecting clips for a skate video part, selecting songs from the internet for a playlist, putting together a menu at a small cafe ect.  The modern use of the verb curate is an attempt by people to elevate/add value to things that don't take all that much effort (and sounds super fucking corny to boot, Jenkem is a serial offender).  Despite being from the New York Times (which has been in steady decline for years quality-wise) this article does a decent job of explaining in more detail-

Remind me: where did you study again? Huh? WHERE!? Oh that's weird Ė no training, huh? I guess you learned a lot from years of working in goddamn galleries and FUCKING MUSEUMS, right? No? Switch 360 flip nosegrind*. I wouldnít consider Tyshawn a rail chomper but I wouldnít be surprised if he could do any rail you put him in front of. I donít see him seeking out the biggest rail to 5050 or boardslide, his parts seem a little more curated. For instance the Switch Ollie over to nosegrind the NYC playground rail in The General was sick and not something you see in any given part.

Easily the most devalued/misused term in the english language for the past fifteen or so years.

Select, organize, and present (online content). That definition was from Oxford Dictionaries website. Iíll admit Iím not the best writer or speaker. Are you criticizing the word or my use of it? Either way TJís parts are usually diverse and show him skating many different spots.

I prefer the term 'Curadle'
Is it true?  Or did you read it on the slap message board?

Woe becom'st to all in haste
Worry ne'er for it'd be late
A tragic tale I shall relate
of faulty utter
utter words in waste

A man of stature, we can say as much
Lest err thy use of fancy words and such
"Bollocks!" he shouts, spouting vengeful rage
"Those oppos'd, Hell shall sure await"
Forsooth his temperament irate
For misuse of his cherised word; curate
