He killed it both times but returning just highlighted his love of skateboarding and the culture which is dope. Although IMO it sucked that TJ amplified that comment from twitter that contextualized the chatter around clearing the table as symbolic of some larger antiblackness. Skaters have always been nitpicky about angles, toe drags, manny scrapes, etc. It's part of the culture. Now, I would never tell another black person how to feel about whether something is racist or not. However, my opinion is that this wasn't it.
That said, let's say some of the criticism was racist, and it's likely that is true, so what? TJ has reached the heights of skateboarding and beyond, SOTY, a signature shoe on Addidas, high end modeling gigs, restaurant owner, skate company owner, multiple groundbreaking parts, etc. What more validation is needed unless some of us are so insecure about being black that it means more that some random racist assholes universally acknowledge our successes instead of appreciating our own achievements and keeping it moving.
