Does anyone else think there’s a lowkey thing between tyshawn and kyle wilson? after watching tyshawns skating over the last couple years i was thinking if there’s anyone doing something similar and the only person i could think of was kyle wilson. it kind of seems like they’ve gone back and forth if you look at their clips, kyle switch ollied 4 cans infront of tyshawns face at an adidas event, kyle also ollied those train tracks in beyond the 3rd wave

Im more of a tyshawn fan, but just rewatched the nyjah part. Thats gotta be some of the highest level street skating ever released in 1 go.

i would say that the fact alone that nyjah has learned from the past and fired the filmer, despite the filmer's legacy and prestige, who has filmed nyjah's gnarly tricks in an unappealing way, deserves respect and makes nyjah someow even more of a "skater" (of the year). There was certainly some politics and also breach of contract, and so on involved, to stand up for himself.

Tyshawn isn't there yet as he is still letting Bill ruin his footage. because image, supreme-connection, etc. is still more important to him than letting his tricks and his skateboarding stand as a timeless testament for him.

is just a thought that in my opinion speaks for nyjah as SOTY.

I’ll throw my two cents in and say LL never stood and still never stands a chance bc he’s “predictable” and safe in the eyes of SOTY. Skating is impeccable and the fits are modern greatness, but, he’s never pushing the boundary of previous SOTY awards. He doesn’t fit the award on multiple spectrums and I don’t intend this post to take away from what he’s contributed to skateboarding or the SOTY debate but its just not “thrasher” enough.

That alternate angle was underwhelming as all fuck. Maybe the reason we aren’t seeing that angle in Play Dead is because it really makes the trick look kinda average.

Not gonna lie, the tricks are gnarly as fuck, but fat bill fumbled on the one yard line with the subway kickflip and despite how hard as hell it is to skate to ether, I think the Hardies part and the new king part being cut up is diluting the end result. Especially after tj complained about suciu doing the same thing. Doesn't have the same punch that a more tightly edited combo first half Hardies, second half king part could have hit.

I think it would’ve been better for him to put all that footage from the “king skateboards” part into his part in “play dead” I mean sure, the way both those parts were filmed (angles, fish eye, lines, etc) are completely different but im sure there would’ve been a way to make the edit work with the different styles of filming. Also, there has to be some other angles of the subway kickflip…. I just can’t fathom that angle in “play dead” being the only angle it was filmed from. I know that if I was TJ I would be super bummed if that was the only angle the kickflip was filmed from..  it Definitely seems like something you’d want to have atleast 1 or 2 other filmers for different angles.

Also, I think it would’ve been even a better idea if tyshawn would’ve used all of his footage from “the general” part, the “king skateboards” part and his supreme part for one single video part and maybe just used only the trash can lines for a shorter part in the supreme video. I think that would’ve been more entertaining to watch if it had been just one long video part, that’s just my opinion, I’d love to see an edit with all of his footage he’s put out recently as one single video part, if you were to put all that footage together in one long part it would’ve been a lot better, that’s just my opinion at least. Either way, all the footage he put out in those 3 parts was so good.

Haha! That’s an awesome, zoomed to hell and back perspective had he been the one to film J wray’s water tower gap Ollie. Imagine being freaked the fuck out, risking life and limb ollieing that sketchy ass thing , only to find out that this was the angle it had been filmed from?!?

I enjoy a lot of strobek’s filming and the way he goes about different filming angles and I truly think that he’s an amazing filmer. But some of the clips he’s filmed in the past 3 supreme videos have left me feeling very confused as to why he chose certain perspectives and angles to film from
