Christian Hosoi was never as stylish as Chris Miller yet he always was the "style" guy so I'll go with him for this stupid thread
[close]
Apples and oranges style-wise, Miller had better frontside airs, Christian had better backside airs and his ollies were more stylish than Miller's imo not to mention Christian had the second most stylish layback grinds of all time after Jay Simth.  Christian was also more stylish in a backyard pool than Miller and was a way better street skater as well.
[close]
Top 5 alltime.  I'd say Tom Penny then Christian.  Especially meth-era Christian.
This part is right on the cusp of/in the entry stages of hie meth-era and has always been a favorite, so much speed (no pun intended) and style.  He seriously fucks that pool up, always particularly dug the backside slash he does at 00:35 right after the frontside ollie.

There's footage of him in full meth mode skating Burnside that's pretty unreal, I'll see if I can find it later.

If we’re talking purely skating - quality of skating, style of skating, and variety of tricks - and not cultural impact or career success, I’d have to say that Muska is overrated.

The thing with Muska is that all the hype and fits overtook his actual skating and lasted way longer, but there was like a 2-year period where he was absolutely at the top of the game.

Random dude: "Hey, Muska, how many fingers did you stick in Paris Hilton?"
Muska: "Five. I'm a man."
"Let's just do something stupid and ridiculous and just be as fucking regular as we possibly can."

If you were around when Fred Gall came out you'd know he was groundbreaking and had super sick style.  Gonz has balls of steel and is mesmerizing to see skate in person.  Nobody over rates Nak but hes solid.

In talking about Fred’s Love days, Bobby Puleo called him “the Guy Mariano of the east coast.”
I’m a ghost that everyone can see.

Fred Gall, Bobby Worrest, Wade Speyer, Heath Kirchart, Dennis Busenitz and Karl Watson are all very, very overrated.

You might as well say Spanly. I would say you are incorrect. Opinions are the spice of life tho.

Yeah there's absolutely nothing overrated about Heath, dude is gnarly and stylish as fuck.

I would probably say Muska only because of how short his reign at the top was, Penny might be up there too, I love them both though

ITT - People who don't know the difference between "overrated" and "I personally don't like".

Honestly tho, I don't even know any names off the top of my head but I'll hear people raving (sometimes on here) about how so-and-so is the bee's fucking knees and I'll look up footage and it's some dude who looks like he hasn't bathed in weeks doing ride-on grinds and bombing dirt hills while waving his arms around like he's fighting off an imaginary swarm of bees and I'm like...tha fuck?

God damnit finally someone else says it.
I've been watching this hype train for years and always wondered what people are seeing that I'm not.
Like I can't think of a single thing I've seen from him that I would think "oh shit! Only Kader can do that!".
Even the "good for his age" doesn't apply these days, there's 10 year olds doing crazier shit than Kader.
I dunno if there's something about his style that stands out to people but whatever it is it never stood out to me.

Nyjah's athletic skills on a skateboard make people overrate his skating skills (which are not the same)
[close]

nyjah isnt even really that athletic. dashawn jordan and tj could shit on him in ANY sport, even in skateboarding they can pop WAY higher than he can. he is not known for big pop at all. I would say his strongest points are that he is a very good technical skater as far as being able to do every single flip trick and grind possible, combined with a fearlessness and focus that allows him to do really hard tricks on huge ass spots. id say combined he has taken some of the hardest slams out of anyone in the game, like on the levels of jamie thomas or any zero guy and then some. he has been doing it since he was a damn child. that is what i mean by focus, because he still lands the trick somehow after getting KO'd even and shit.

i think his puny frame is actually what allows him to take those slams. the sheer weight of a big guy like dashawn or tj, the slams they take seem to hurt a LOT more and those guys do slam a lot too. they are in such good shape though they can handle it

idk if i would say he is over rated. i just think he can be boring to watch esepcailly at this point in his career, and he is a fairly shitty human being. he has provided me a lot of entertainment over the years though.

Tyshawn is pretty petite. Saw him in Supreme once and he seemed shy and little.

I used to feel that way but Kader has grown on me.  I think watching him powerfully execute that noseslide nollieflip over the grate in the Supreme Milan video kind of won me over

Did anyone ever really consider him overrated though?
People hated his style and questioned his business ethics, but overrated in skating ability (for his time and place)?

Beeeeeen saying this. To freakouts here. What did the greats get done by 19-20 years old? Pick any great. Y'all keep waiting for him to get older or whatever though.
