I feel like we're going to be seeing less switch and nollie tricks unfortunately. People are really onto mediocre bags again.

I hope I'm wrong.

A balanced diet is important.

Cab shit is sick too. I hope the trend of cabbing on to rails stays.

I was way way wrong about Tampa AM. Mad good switch skating from Brazil. I should move there open a church for ledge worship.

Good conversation in the chat too.

I have faith in the future

dystopia tees are already out, but unfortunately darkthrone tees are on their way in.
that rnb spotify-core artist, dijon, wore one on the cover of his 2021 album, and i recently saw this short haired dunk guy wearing bright ass dunks wearing a transylvanian hunger shirt.

I anticipate more Turnstile shirts in 2023

This band is garbage. What's up with their insane popularity?

I wouldn't say they're garbage, but I remember 90s hardcore so I don't really see a need for Turnstile. I definitely get a lot of "great white hope" vibes from the constant, fawning praise of them, similar to when The Strokes first popped up.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

dystopia tees are already out, but unfortunately darkthrone tees are on their way in.

No way, everyone always did black metal back in like ~2012, and Darkthrone is far too mainstream. Need something obscure like Dystopia, who all like worked as line cooks and played basement shows.

I have I'll respect for Ginwoo. I seen him set up switch on the quarter and a little off balance. I was like here we go 270 front board.

Nope! Switch heel front board!

My frickin PS4 controller was in my lap and plugged in when I jumped in the air!

My heart sank when he didn't put it down . I felt kinda guilty even for talking smack so much.

That's how skating is tho. I talk smack but at the end of the day it's all love and respect.

What a G.

I love skatepark if Tampa. If I had a babysitter for my cat I'd definitely be at Tampa Pro this year.

I wanna see those guys and meet them official. One of my best friends grew up their so I know way too much already.

I should move there for a few weeks.

Everybody is all into skating in Nike Air Jordan's lately.

The downhill guys all started riding slalom trucks.

Every time I open Instagram stories, it's someone's dishwasher full of Venom Magnum wheels.

Taking skatepark road trips thru Montana and Oregon.

The hip snowboarders and skiers are wearing big oversized outerwear so no one can see their pads underneath. I think the giant pants with pads underneath thing will leak into skateboarding.

I actually just did that for the first time. Wore a slim elbow pad underneath an oversized hoodie to grant my swelbow the tiniest bit of protection. Felt like a complete kook, but maybe I was just trailblazing!

came here to see what others were saying, to see if there were any legit predictions or funny jokes.

Wanted to come up with a prediction, or maybe even a stupid joke.

Thought about it for a bit, couldn't really come up with anything.

Not being able to come up with anything made me feel like im completely out of touch, idk whats really trending right now (aside from large pants and dunks). I genuinely don't know where things are going, and I don't feel like i have the means to figure that out organically like I did when i was younger.

Is this what being old feels like? I know I'm only 30, but fuck, was not expecting my visit to the trendwatch 2023 thread to stir such an existential crisis.

Time to frost my tips, pierce my ears, and buy a corvette.

Thats it! Corvettes are in  for 2023, all the kids will be driving cool corvettes. Yea baby, I've still got it.

Pants have already started slimming down so by the end of the year slim fit/straight fit tailored pants will be fully “in”

Not that I disagree with you, but I love how ridiculous fashion trends are.

Basically you're saying "by the end of the year pants that fit you appropriately will be fully 'in'"

I see more and more younger people out there dressed in all black. Of course still the usual Kevin's and Steve's with Nike Air, chino pants and bright, puffy jackets.
My predictions for 2023:

All black outfits
Hairs get longer again
Only uncool people will wear Nike and Adidas
Goth/Alternative revival
Tattoo removings
Tamagotchi's will come back
Haribo will sponsor me and I save a lot of money

idk the name of it, but this style of slightly emo meets university student meets clark kent will be big.
it is growing in europe already.
like austyn stephens meets conor oberst meets nestor judkins meets seth cohen, propably skating with glasses.
this time they are into (experimental) electronic music instead of indie rock tho.

I guess they would call it now academia aesthetic or something similar.

I know this is nothing new but I predict certain parts of skateboarding will be more covered in academic discourses e.g. urban planning, architecture, participation and social science, because more skaters study and will publish scientific articles and books or give talks. Especially considering the Right to the city movement or the turnaround in mobility.
