Trendwatch 2023
« on: November 03, 2022, 05:08:42 PM »
Manufactures are 6 months in front retailers, and designers 6 months in front manufactures..

It's soon enough to have a peek into 2k23.

Freddy Krueger striped-skinny jeans-mid 00's punk flavor

Flap beanies

And with the Olympics, rollerblading might end up being a sick counter culture for people too cool for skateboarding.

Getting too old to have a good feel on what’s  bubbling with cool people as far as style.

But I do know that 2023 is slated to be a very competitive videogame year on par with 1998 and 2007. So because of gaming I actually predict the first noticeable decline in new skateboarders since the increase during the COVID era.

That’s funny, I made a thread about supporting skate brands by buying soft goods a couple years ago and everyone kooked me for it lol.

@whagman

The pandemic put heavy delays on most games that weren’t near completion by late 2019. Wasn’t really noticeable in 2020 but this year and last year was remarkably slow for game releases. So basically three years worth of big budget titles are slated for release next year.

Just off the top of my head (with a little googling halfway through):

Resident Evil 4 remake
Starfield
Street Fighter 6
Final Fantasy 16
Avowed
Hellblade 2
Black Myth Woukon
Dead Space remake
Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel
Alan Wake 2
Hogwarts Legacy
Forspoken
Redfall
Stalker 2
Suicide Squad game
Assassins Creed Mirage
Diablo 4
Pragmatic
Pikmin 4
Fire Emblem

With more shit probably being announced this December with the Game Awards.

Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel

This game will absolutely result in me skating with less frequency. Will also result in a significant decline in my work productivity and time spent with family.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

The mullets back
I'm thinking general skateboarding fashion will continue down a sort of dying to live kinda of loose, little bit flamboyant hesh then maybe by the end of the year some doofus will think theyre the first to try tight pants.
The fashion cycle is more of a spiral getting faster repeating itself as time goes on

I’d love it if tons of people started skating the SLB 23. Etnies, I’m sure there will be some reissue.

The pants pendulum has to swing the other way, we have reached critical mass. The functionality benefit of having the extra room to move is being outweighed by the added drag coefficient.

Notice the pants of the dudes that skate the fastest, they are not the largest.

I've predicted a few times over the years but was wrong that bmx/ moto-x style pants will come into fashion. Watching sls and rayssa leal is wearing some bright purple and yellow looking ones. This time could be it so better find your fox and shift racing gear dealers
