I'm seeing more and more dudes aged 25-35 skating with helmets recently. Could this actually happen?
I always have double respect for someone just not caring and killing it with a helmet on because I'd honestly feel weird about it even if I sometimes would like to wear one for certain tricks if I'm scared.

Just keep a bike in your vicinity people will think you're just practical

Not landing tricks as to not offend the people around you that can't do the same tricks as you.

i think skating is on the forefronts of a decline in popularity, so less people at the parks. soon we'll only have the modelo, parking lot crew, more public herb smokers & i will be lonely once more

Noticed a few krook 180 outs (the hard way) in some recent videos, I’m guessing we’ll see more, maybe with a nollie big spin, or maybe nollie flip/heel out. I could see someone like trent McClung or miles Silvas doing a krook nollie back heel out

Slow is out in 2023. 66mm wheels and cell blocks are coming back but dlxsf is going to just make a 12 ply version. Kids will delam in seconds at the local curb. Reed will retire over all the hate mail.

As the future unfolds, more and more older dudes skating- not just middle agers having a midlife crisis wanting to try skating for the first time but skaters that skated since they were young, maybe they made a career out of it maybe they didn't, but they just kept skating through their 20's, 30's, 40's, etc. Skate spots and skateparks will have more and more older people there to the point that skateboarding will eventually lose it's typecast-ness of being only for little kids (hopefully at least).

no, the new generation of modelo drinkers and parking lot crews never picked up skateboarding because the mainstream image of it is jockish and competitive. not saying we wont see any legit kids anymore, but a lot less nice kids now are picking up skating from what i see here and the mainstream is really jockish and out of touch from the "core" scene as we see it.
i think we are going to see alot more people using parks as practice to get better as the main objective and motive behind their skating and less outcasts and weirdos picking up skating.

2023 prediction - the kids are going to be fine, even if they don’t act exactly like you think they should.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

- Doing combo grinds/slides on handrails also with flips in between e.g. boardslide kf boardslide
- Doing straight 360s into slides/grinds (bs 360 to fs 5050 or fs 360 to bs 5050)
- recycled skateboards

Feel like nyjah may of just ruined that for 99.9% of people. I think year back Foy kinda inspired a lot of people to go big again and showed off what you can do with different pinch technique etc. I think nyjah just scared everyone off because what bit of that part could anyone even get a finger on

People doing football-esque celebrations after landing tricks in contests, I just can't wait to see someone with a Red Bull hat laying down a SIUUU after "coming in hot" with the 540 flip noseslide

I think I'm gonna have to swear off hate-watching SLS for good if skaters start doing the Griddy after a make. Some lines shall not be crossed.

Nyjah does a half cab crook nollie backside heel out at 3:24 in his most recent part.

I would like to see that. I love Winkowski and all but him letting that huge German Sheppard of his just roam around skateparks unleashed makes me uneasy.

I always have double respect for someone just not caring and killing it with a helmet on because I'd honestly feel weird about it even if I sometimes would like to wear one for certain tricks if I'm scared.

At what kind of spots are we talking about? Mt. Baldy? Bowl park with a foot of vert? Rockridge Bart? Tompkins's Square TF? I'm very anti-helmet in any street or street-adjacent skate context, but I'm also against peewee (American-) football. I know I'm a hypocrite. It would secretly bum me out if I met a homie at a street spot and they were wearing a helmet. I'd probably get over it in about 5 minutes, but it hasn't happened yet, so I haven't had to deal with this aspect of my upbringing/inculturation/toxic masculinity/insecurity. I'm sure having kids changes the calculus.
Can someone deepfake helmets onto Nyjah's and TJ's heads in their latest parts? And while you're at it, remove Andy's?

youtube will retake the lead over Instagram in online skateboarding media with their youtube shorts feature exploding in popularity.
