For me, it was the aesthetics of bands like Nofx, Blink182, No use for a name, The Offspring… and the appearance of skaters in some of their music videos. Those things made me think as a kid it was the “skater uniform”

Shants will reign. Long and baggy. By the end of the summer will be a meme. By next summer will be a staple. Dickies shorts peak saturation. There will be a lot more sleeveless shirts, baby tees and crop tops. The slim down theory going around here is going to happen to shirts, not pants. The shoe debate of corporate vs skater-owned will finally die, skaters will be applauded by fans for secured shoe deals with whoever as its common knowledge that with a shoe contract they will skate and travel more which means we get to see more clips. There might be a drought in the high water department finally. No more floods

I think you are right. I already see it Happening. For me personally it's a disaster because nearly all my pants are high waters and I don't want to go looking for new pants. That is the worst kind of shopping.

During 1999-2003 I thought the pop punk (huge short Dickies, high socks, studded belts) look was the standard look for skaters in USA. The reality is I’ve never seen a skater who wears like that.

Weird I thought the same, guess this is a kind of Mandela effect...

That’s how all the ‘skaters’ at my middle school dressed. They could all do shove it’s, no pop 180s and maybe a heelflip. They all had really high Ollie’s though and were held back at least one year.

Maybe that rowan davis part will inspire more kids to wear Air maxes when they skate? It would actually be sick.

Add halfcab heelflips, big spins and popped 180s and you described me  ;D

slim straight pants will come back. i think ive posted here about this before, but fuck it. we're almost reached a point where jnco type baggy pants have returned, we're very soon bound to reach terminal velocity of the baggy pant resurgence

lets just split the difference at straight fit - skaters should be issued a pair of 501's and 874's with their first board, and get free repairs and replacements as needed.

If you haven't tried 501's in the last few years give em' a try, back to the slimmer 70s/80's silhouette with a perfect leg opening - plus with a higher rise they sit above your hips and allow for more movement IMO

Hm might have to hunt some down. I just usually pull em from thrift shops, so beggars vs choosers

What's the closest Levis cut (minus where waist sits) to Dickies 874s? Maybe the 569 loose straight?

If you size 574's correct to sit on your true waist they're honestly similar to 501's - back in the early 00's 569's were the jean of choice, im 6'1" and weighed 165-170 lbs back then and bought them in 33-30, and dickies i bought in 34-30 - now I weigh 175 lbs and buy 501's and dickies in 32-32 ... it's crazy how much better clothes look when they fit lol

their heavyweight non stretch regular fits are solid and totally skateable -  I have a pair of 101z's too and they rule, too pricey to skate tho

Imagine if Monster or Red Bull started making teeth jewelry similar to what home girl is wearing in this photo:
