Are you always skating the same brand?

Same brand and same deck dimensions?
Do you feel it helps your skating cause you don’t have to readjust the first few days everytime?

Or doesn’t it matter to you, cause as long as you have decks with roughly the same dimensions it doesn’t make a difference?


When the madness kicks in I even wonder if it would make sense to stick to the same shoes.
But then again even the same pair of shoes need a few days of getting used to when new

Yes it helps for sure. There's a reason pros don't change shit up for years or even decades. Shoes, wheel size, even wheel shape? Everything. At least for really advanced tech skating, where maximum precision is needed.

But even as an average joe, it ruins your skating to switch up your gear all the time

i've switched from popsicles to shaped decks and back a few times and i don't think it's set me back too much and it keeps things fresh. i always get BBS wood though because i like how durable it is.

I like to switch it up. I am currently skating a 9.12 egg, 8.6 popsicle, and a 8.38 shovel nose.

I didn't even realize I almost exclusively skate DGK decks until my friends pointed it out to me.
I like a narrower classic popsicle deck with mellow nose and tail and mellow to medium concave; DGK produces a lot of decks that fit the bill. And I'm a pretty big fan of Stevie so that's cool too.

I do the same…the construction is consistent and the sizes/shapes are all quite similar….there’s a point where I don’t want to be chasing around a set of dimensions…..the press for lots of good brands too….

Usually Ace trucks, sometimes Thunder/ Indy
Always Spitfire F4s, usually 99a

I've been narrowing down my choice in brands more and more recently. It doesn't necessarily help but mixing things up usually hurts... haha...

Almost never. I have a preferred range of dimensions and woodshop but even then I'll pick something wildly different if it looks interesting. There is just so much neat stuff to try out.

I switch it up but for the most part I also stick to BBS. Lately I've been skating Krooked and Polar decks. I really dig Polar's popsicle shapes. I tend to switch things up and then when I find something I like I stick to it for a bit.

I'm currently in the sweetspot where I know what I like. Manderson Krooked 8.38" shape and Polar 8.5" for days

I never fuck w/ PS Stix though. I don't like how quickly they feel soggy.

Every so often it's fun to just get a wildcard new shape though, but I usually end up back at what I like.

My favourite skate shoe was the vans slip on pro , can't skate aswell since they changed them to the 'skate' range and been trying different brands but nothing feels as good and my skating is suffering

Shoes - yes.  In the last 10 years I have only skated one pair that was not Adidas.

Boards, wheels and trucks are all over.
