It is my personal belief that the "Drop" video by The Pharcyde is the exact moment that Gonz went from being interesting and awesome to being obnoxious and "best avoided".

I actually like it as well. A nice blend of retro type design with a modern finish. It’s nothing groundbreaking but it is far from bad. The crown will still work well as a subtle mark on tags or stickers too.

God this is too funny. A joke that people won't get in a year. For future thread readers, it's in reference to the Gifted Hater video on if Tyshawn switch ollied the table.

People from the future going to read this and be like "you mean the table he switch front side flipped?"
Skateboarding is the ultimate challenge.

I think there should be more black / empty space between the I and the N but it’s a totally fine, completely average logo and an improvement from the clip art first draft

I always find it so fucking weird that of all brands for Gonz to be tied closely to (that he doesn't own) Supreme seems to be the biggest. I can't imagine many people older than 25 wearing the clothes except for dudes that wait in line to buy shoes, and he's like double that old?
[close]

Full agree. It really annoys me how they basically exploit his legendary status by throwing his name amongst a roster of skaters 1/3 his age, then only having a couple goofy clips in their videos. I'm sure it's a nice paycheck, but I have a feeling Gonz doesn't really need it, what with his art career, Krooked, Adidas, etc.

Then, on the opposite spectrum, they toss Beatrice in amongst heavy hitters... like we won't notice.
[close]

I hear so many things about marks finances, from he's a multi millionaire to he lost everything to the IRS and had to borrow cash from friends. No idea what is true. I usually don't pocket watch but the financial status of aging pros is more interesting than the financial status of some 20-something.

Jason Lee's talked before about getting fucked by not paying taxes. Wouldn't be surprised if gonz got the same treatment. It probably only really matters for those pros who got famous/went on to make much bigger amounts of money

Gonz definitely strikes as spacey enough to not figure out taxes . But what really gets me is that man has a wife and kid. I wonder what he’s like as a father. He just seems so incapable of that responsibility.

calling Mark's affiliation with the brand "exploitation" is pretty ridiculous

he's been involved with the brand for 20+ years, has installations at 7 of their locations, has contributed art to more releases than could be counted, and consistently wears their clothes more than any of his other sponsors.

sounds like they have a pretty good relationship to me
[close]

Sorry. I just dislike Supreme and it clouds my opinion. It's hard for me to see Gonz dressed like a clown in Supreme clothing. It just looks silly to me.
I had a realization the other day that there's a version of Mark that old heads that love him like to ignore. Obviously his fits are the best from Blind to early Krooked but when Mark rode for Vision Street Wear he was Mister Fucking Vision Street Wear. From that era there are a few classic fits like the tree wallie fit or even what he's wearing when he does the 50-50 down the rail in NYC but most of them are pretty terrible and look like whatever's in the box, Vision's contrived radical style and then Gonz's general weirdness all thrown together. A great example of this gone wrong is on the pump on the chrome sculpture in NYC in the all over VSW button up which, now that I'm typing this, I realize is probably the same fit as the 50-50, just without the button up. I've come to love that era when Mark was 100% owned by Vision, particularly how bridles against it with the impromptu fashion shoot with Natas or the grip tape art and bizarro sticker jobs, and so I've come to accept that Mark is gonna be down to be Mr Supreme or Adidas and that's cool and totally tracks with stuff he's done in the past.
them cats are out getting mashed up to jungle, he's out mashing up jungle cats. it's just not gonna work.

Has anyone brought up the fact that Tyshawn comes off as a douche bag in his new Thrasher interview? I was shocked and bummed on that. Then the first thing I see this morning on Thrasher stories is him re-doing the picnic table ollie. He's lurking on here for sure.

No, it’s kinda frowned upon to mention that, but cool to rehash a decade old Koston IG comment or wry AO interview with Jenkem or when MJ once talked about bringing new ideas to adidas or whatever the fuck he said

Just remember: the guy who thinks it’s lame when people make a big effort to go for SOTY has a King part and a Supreme part still to come this year.

nowadays it seems so stupid for pros not to have a tax consultant
