I’m sure it’s been said, but the nb 1010. I have pretty much lived in these for the past two years and don’t see that changing soon.

What's the connection between the halfcab and the 1010? Seems so many people have been halfcab wearers and jumped over. Not saying it's not a good choice or anything I just picture a dozen other shoes I'd go to first if I loved halfcabs but wanted a bit more support

Maybe folks buy halfcabs because they want more support but aren’t ready to give up vulcs yet, then eventually accept their fate

Exactly this. Half cab '92s are still my main skate shoe and get my vote but I'm wearing 1010s right now and working toward my fate. I'm a shoe nerd though and I've tried a lot this year (440s, 272s, 306s, Noras, Buseunitz vulc 2, KSL G6, Gammas, etc.) About to put a bunch of my more legacy Vans on Depop.

Yeah that's it I just can't explain what I mean properly. I guess it just seems like a weird A to B but also done by so many. I guess I'd assume people would get some dunk mids or tyshawns first shoe or something more similar looking to a halfcab

What new shoe models actually came out in 2022? I can think of a bunch, but I'm probably missing some:
- NB# 808
- NB# 440 Trail
- Nike BRSB
- Nike Nyjah 3
- Nike Ishod
- Adidas Nora
- Adidas Puig Indoor
- eS One Nine 7
- eS Stylus
- DC Clocker reissue
- DC Metric
- DC Kalynx
- Hours Is Yours Code
- Emerica Vulcano
- Emerica KSL G6
- Last Resort VM003
- Vans Lizzie
- Vans MC
- Globe Dimension
- Cons All Star Mid
- Cons Pro Leather Vulc

I'm voting for the 808, even though I tried them on and they don't fit my foot, just to cheer on cushioned up cupsoles.

missed opportunity to create another Soty thread by calling this shoe of the year.

I've been skating my first pair ever of Blazer mids since october. It's the first show i've skated in a while that was noticably good. Most shoes are fine. You get the occasional dud, but very rarely do you get a shoe and say to yourself, "FUCK! this is what i've been missing out on this whole time?"

other than that the only current shoe I skated was the menteca 4 which isn't new, but DC Reintroduced this year. It's also really good

I've exclusively skated 440 High's this year... but they didn't come out in 2022 so I don't think that's a fair answer

I was stoked to see the KSL come back but didn't skate them

440s since they are perfect.  The sole doesn't last that well but they skate so good. On my 8th pair.

Vans AVE for me. I love the NB 440 but yes, the sole disappears within a few weeks. Super disappointing - this would probably be my favorite shoe if only it actually lasted.

Tried the 1010 this year, I hate this shoe. I have a number of friends who love and swear by them, and of course they're popular here and with the pros, but they simple do not work for me and I will be getting rid of them soon.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

Seconded on these, clean design with a wide toe box, very comfy as chillers, doubt my feet can handle the thin vulc to skate in.

I’ve pretty much only wore the new skate half cabs and the skate 92 half cabs since they came out. Before that I was wearing just og half cabs. I’m on my 6 pair of the new half cabs now. I also have 2 pairs of 1010s that I can skate in but I mostly got them because their more comfortable than half cabs when I’m taking my daughter on multi-mile walks. They’re my long walk shoe or if I have to do chores or errands or mild manual labor and half cabs are my everything else shoe (skating, chilling).

nike brsb, been skating since them they came out and they skate so well. Though being very sporty looking, they are durable, never go floppy and have amazing flick, can sustain a 4 stair drop without killing my old ankles. If the colorways improve I'll be buying more of these things.

dud of the year - even though it came out before 2022, the revamped gt blazer pro. The foxing is too high and the shoe is just not as tight and stiff as the predecessor. I had to grab a few pairs online before they went fully extinct.

My vote goes to the Spanky KSL

GT Blazer Pro - I second your flop of the year; in addition to what you noted, the metal eyelets popped out first session in them...laces are also too short and come undone all the damn time. There is nothing special about this shoe at all; floppy generic low-end (except price) skate shoe.

How is the width on the bsrb?

Don't know why the NB 440 and GT blazer keep coming up in here, those models have been out for over 2 years now.

Have a lot of DC/ Philly bias, so for me the best "new" model that came out this year was the Kalynx, NB 808 is a good one too. Ishod's shoe is also nice but I couldn't wear em, too narrow for me so I had to give them away, but glad I got to support the mans debut pro model!

Enjoyed the few pairs of Last Resort canvas highs I skated this year (VM001 and VM003s).  The canvas seem to fit/feel better for me than the suede ones.
Have to agree, the VM001 canvas hi have been my go to all year.

440s except for the longevity. It’s easy to wear through the toe in within 3 sessions.

Might have to try out the 1010

yea, I want those new green primitive colorway. idk if I’d skate them though. looks like the perfect shoe to put on after the session.

This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Cons Fast Break.
Excellent shoe. Lasted months longer than I thought. If I patched the ollie hole I could still skate them . I had them like over 6 months total. Heavily skating 4 months in them.
It could be the best shoe to skate untied ever?

The negative is riding boards with really deep concave was not comfortable at all. Like dunks the flatter the board the better for me with those two shoes.

The AF1s and the chukka low edge it out for best shoe I've had since like ipath.
Plz stop killing each other

FYI...picked these up recently and they are GREEN, much poppier/brighter than in the photos especially in the sun. This could be a pro or con depending on your particular style. (Also I'm partially color blind so ymmv.)
