Collection of Alien Workshop ads 1991 - 1993
« on: November 27, 2022, 05:15:29 AM »
I've been reading late 80's / early 90's Transworld skateboarding mags as I bought a lot of em few weeks back. In December 1990 there was an ad for G&S footage, but then in 1991 a new company called AWS started appearing with a lot of same names. While I went through the mags, I also scanned the ads and thought I'd share em with you too.

The first year in particular has some awesome graphic design by Mike Hill, like check out July, November and December ones. Weird, different, just cool.

These aren't complete as I'm missing some issues (I think there was 10 ads in first year), some or most can be found on Chrome Ball Incident blog and I think there was a book/zine of the first year.

Learned kickflip on that Duane matchstick board.  Still kicking myself for not getting the reissue a few years back.

Fukn nice work

"Switch stance halfcab crooked". I don't have any problems with how skate terminology is now but can't help but wonder how it could of gone differently at this time.

Incredible and unparalleled, 30+ years later. You see their markings across the entire industry to this day.

Yeah, I was kinda tripping re-reading the way we used to name tricks. Everything is so abbreviated now. I’m surprised it didn’t say “opposite footed” instead of “switch stance” lol

Opposite footed maybe would of made a little more sense as it's "switch stance" but he's skating regular lol. I understand why but it's funny that nollie was the one that was confusing people whereas these days it's fakie half the people can't understand
