Where do you keep your skateboards during Winter?
« on: November 24, 2022, 12:21:08 PM »
I live in North Dakota where we have extreme winters. I keep my boards in my garage, but I’m curious if the extreme cold is bad for decks and other gear. I’ve never really noticed an issue but I was thinking about it the other day as I was shoveling my driveway.

If you live in a place where the winters get rough, where do you keep your gear? Thanks!

By the door inside my apartment always. No matter where I’d live I’d keep it inside by the door somewhere handy. You gotta treat her right. Don’t neglect your love.

Shit I've got a set up in my garage thanks for reminding me. All the others are in my apartment with one always besides the door.

I'm in Minnesota; keep the extra decks in board boxes in an unfinished basement closet. My main board is usually laying around somewhere.

Boards can get warped if you leave them in the car too much. But that's usually from fluctuating temperatures, not just extreme cold so idk. I bring mine inside.

I work from home and have a home office and my boards go in there. I have my regular set up 8.5 x 32.125 x 14.25 any ps stix boxy shape (usually a quasi) on venture 5.8 and spitfire f4 og classic shape 58 mm and an egg or shaped board (currently quasi egg 9 x 32 x 13.75 with another on a deck) on 6.1 with f4 og classics 58 mm. I have a ton of boards because I started stock piling during the pandemic and they are all in box in the closet of my office. I would not leave my board in a garage or in my trunk.

Leave it in the car so you don’t forget it.

it must be crazy when chico sells you something and the tables switch from "give me my money chico" to "giving my money to chico"

One winter I left my setup in the garage overnight and next day truck snapped right above the pivot bushing from the cold as soon as I stepped on board.

Now I always keep em by the door in the winter. Otherwise got it in the trunk

I live in Oregon, so me personally I hate soggy waterlogged decks, leaving it in a car or garage is a good way to completely ruin it. Now I know some people prefer soft decks, Jamie foy for some reason lol. Dry cold I’m not sure how much damage it would do to the wood?

What trucks? Cause I leave my bitch in the trunk I skate every night, and it's not worth forgetting.  I've never had any malfunctions like that, just the usual bushings stiffening up a little.

This was like 8 years ago, but pretty sure they were Stage 11 Indys. It was super weird since I was always leaving my board in the garage that winter from doing flatground in there, trucks were close to getting down to the axel too so mightve been a combo of always leaving it overnight and being well worn in
