Longest Running Indoor Skateparks
« on: December 04, 2022, 02:20:33 PM »
Hey, Long time Lurker, first time poster. I’m looking to find some info on which indoor skateparks have been open the longest, or had the earliest beginning, and are still operating. The first I think of are SPOT and Skaters Palace in Germany. I know these things are hard to keep open, so I am interested from a historical perspective to hear. Thanks!

If you're mentioning Milwaukee parks, 4 Seasons has been there for a little over 20 years at this point.

Charm City Skatepark in Baltimore was opened in 1994, so 28 years now. I’m guessing not quite as old as SPoT but close

In Hamburg the Thomas-i Indoor Park was started, around 1993 i remember.
Was loud and muggy in the summer and cold in the winter:)

Been there a lot in the nineties. It was loud and smelly. Loved it. Thomas I-Punkt was the bomb. There was also this rough atmosphere that I liked.

Fryshuset in Stockholm, Sweden is old as well, but I know they switched location once I believe.

Charm City was a shop with a mini ramp before the park opened. The park didn't open until about 2002. Still a decent grip of time, and still mind boggling he's able to keep that spot afloat.

Scooter kids keep the lights on unfortunately.

Side note related to Charm, my skateboard volunteer group is gonna have a meetup there sometime over the winter, if any PALs are nearby they should come. Will probably be late Jan/early feb

K-Zoo in Kalamazoo, MI

https://www.skatezoo.com/

opened since 1990...i'm bummed to say i have not been out there in a long time, but used to make the trip from Detroit every couple of weeks.

Bill Ferguson owns it...one of the forefathers of Michigan skateboarding who has a long history and the deepest roots in skating--grew up skating at Endless Summer and skated for Veriflex and then Losi...

We had a really shitty one in Bristol, CT but it just closed this year. They had a sign on the vert ramp that said like "Longest running indoor park" or something like that - looks like it first opened in 1987.

Skater's Edge in Taunton, MA is the closest one that's worth traveling to. IMO all indoors are dusty traps and aren't really worth it unless you're desperate during a really bad winter.
