Say what's up and ask if they mind me getting in on the sesh. I guess it depends what the spot is. If its a ledge spot, I'll make my way to where people are starting at and ask if they mind me skating it with them. I'll watch to see what everyone is trying and then select my tricks accordingly. I pretty much do the same thing I do when I go to a park where I don't know anyone. 99% of time, as long as you are respectful, people won't kook you. There are exceptions though

Usually come back later, unless they look like they are going to leave soon or seem chill. The worst is when I wax up a new spot to skate myself and random people start showing up.

I was just thinking about this because I drove by a spot that I was thinking about skating and there were people there. Normally I’d say what’s up and join but I didn’t feel like it. Curious how other people handle that situation

just start skating. Go for your tricks that u had in mind, hopefully get them, then dip. If the people there are chill then boom that's a plus. If they're dicks then try to ignore them and keep going for your tricks and then dip. Sounds awkward but like unless they own the spot, ur just as entitled to skate there as them and if there aren't many spots around your area you're gonna feel like a sucker if u let them psyche u out of skating there and now u have to drive around looking for a new spot. And giving advice is way easier than taking it lol. I've been there and i know the shaky legs when u feel they're all watching u snickering at you while ur going for your trick. If u got shaky legs then definitely warm up first. I'm definitely a fan of at least trying to persist through the bad vibe others are trying to give off, cuz why let them win especially when u did nothing to them

Walk up, board under my arm, coffee in one hand and phone up to ear in the other hand. Talk just loud enough so everyone can hear my conversation with the kid holding down the shop while I’m at the spot. Talk strictly about how glassy the waves were this morning and how perfect my single fin thruster was for the conditions. Set my keys, coffee, cigarettes and board down on whatever obstacle everyone is skating. Then sit my ass down in a lounging position to be as comfy as possible while I finish my phone conversation which now consists of me just saying “yeah” several times. Put my phone down, make eye contact with everyone at the spot, sip my coffee for a few minutes, then spark up a cig as I leave without stepping on my board once or saying a word to anyone there.

Say hello to everyone. Stretch and warm up. Give props when someone lands a trick. Try whatever you would have tried, if you were there alone.

If they film and someone is struggling with a specific trick, don't do that trick or ask if it is okay if you try that same trick. But don't put on a one-man demo in front of strangers. Let everyone get their turn and fun.

If you feel like, they vibe you out or talk shit, then come back another day. Some skaters/crews are weird.

Lol. Or while on the phone in lounging position saying "yeah" a bunch, ask the crew you're holding up if they'll film u after u get off the phone. Make sure you get someone to agree to it. Then proceed to finish up your phone call while pointing your hand out to the crew with that (one moment hand sign). Finish your cig with your third hand, spit on the ground near the other skaters, hang up, say to the crew "You ready? I won't be long prolly 3 tries tops", get up, make another phone call, mall grab your board, and proceed to say "yeah" over and over again while giving the crew the "one moment" hand signal while walking out of the spot. Make sure someone from the crew had their camera ready to film u before u dip out. Lmao.

One time I rolled up to this same spot and it was empty but I noticed someone had took a huge stinky shit. Maybe some skater with no sense of smell wanted to make space

Figure out what trick the other person is trying, then focus their board and do the trick first T.

I announce that my son calls smith grinds "Monorail Piledrivers."

Depending on the reaction, I may or may not be welcome at the session and I will leave or stay accordingly.
