Nyjah can just stop trying for SOTY at this point.  I’m no nyjah fan, and I get why they don’t give it to him on some level, but at this point he shouldn’t even accept it if they do.  Thrasher is like Nyjahs parental figure at this point, he keeps hoping one day they will accept him on his terms, but won’t just put on the brown pants they picked out for him and meet them half way.  Congrats Tyshawn!

I’m not a huge fan of the way thrasher releases the little documentary on TJ before giving it to him, makes it feel less suspenseful, or like there’s nothing anyone can drop after that to have a meaningful impact on the results.  Any of the top four would have been reasonable picks though, congrats to Tyshawn.

That said, nothing Ty/Louie/tfunk did was at the same level as Nyjah, sure they had maybe a banger or two, love him or hate him, NiGeL brought the send with banger after banger...on some massive fucking rails...untouchable by anyone else...pretty sure there's more out there that can BS flip that width (they do sidewalk to sidewalk gaps all the time, right)...gotta say tho, not sure there's many who would touch that China Banks ollie...(*cough* even if he did pop past the first edge...but I get it, you have to get in between to to get to ollie it)

Fucking hyped for Tyshawn.  It was a great year for skating.  Love that the dude is sober and making/accomplishing goals for himself.  Lots of dope parts this year, but this is proof that dude pushes skateboarding and doesn't coast a paycheck.  He earned it!

jah dropped the footy this year but lots of it was filmed last year. you can tell by the christmas tree in the background of one of the clips that it wasnt this year. also wasnt he posting about some injury and surgery earlier this year.

How far back is considered too long to count for the current year? I'd assume more than a few pros are sitting on some oldish footage from at least last year, I'd wager Yuto for example is out there banking up clips for either next years SOTY or the next.

I think BS flips are even easier over long flat gaps than kickflips.  Your lead foot flings it way in front of you automatically so it’s easier to clear distance

Hyped for tyshawn

Someone mentioned a few days back that if he won he’d slow down on productivity. I think that him winning this will do the opposite, I think since he’s won it twice now that he’ll be gunning to be the first person to get it three times. I feel as if once he’s in the race, he’s already won.

I believe this, but it would need to be a truly bigger year for him than anyone has ever had in their career. Thinking kickflipping the water tower or something like that, has that ever been discussed? Or is it still even possible to skate that spot? People like to gloss over the fact that he has p rod level switch backside game too, would like to see more of that as well.
