White tees
« on: December 13, 2022, 06:52:04 PM »
Can anyone recommend some good simple, blank, all-white tees for skating? Singles or packs, it doesn't matter. Much appreciated if so.

@carbonite back in the day I remember you recommended some on your blog, I can't recall what kind they were though.

I've got the shoulder width of a size large but the height of a size medium, so it's been hard to find anything decent. I've taken simple white tees to a tailor to get hemmed down. Also bought packs of Ralph Lauren and Hanes tees from Walmart and they suck for skating b/c the sleeves are too short, too tight of a fit, and the fabric is too thin.

these are heavyweight tall t's, the sleeves are long and the fit is super loose. i'd go with the LT

"SPECIAL SIZING - Our Tall Beefy-T® is 3 inches longer than average size and available in sizes LT (Large Tall) - 4XLT. See size chart for more specific sizing info."

Nice, I think I’ve heard good things about the beefy tees so I’ll look into these!

I’ve been on the Dickies Heavyweight pocket tee.

They’re relaxed fit as well.

Walmart.
They have a wall of tees every color $5. Idk about a lot of people but I personally wear a white tee once and never again. They never look as crispy white as the first wear. I buy them in pairs cause you always gotta layer the white tee 😉

Nordstrom Rack used to sell Joe’s white cotton t-shirts in a three pack for like $30. Those were the best white shirts I ever owned. The nicest, softest cotton and a good fit.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

No clue about Walmart as they aren't over here thank fuck, but if you wash your whites sperate with bleach they stay white as for ever...I never owned a white t-shirt in my life till I moved here in the south of France where you need em in the summer sun.

I really like these Uniqlo U blank tees

https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E422992-000/01?colorDisplayCode=00&sizeDisplayCode=003
Uniqlo blank tees are really good. pretty solid and decent heft to them for the price. I think the fit is great and the collar sits nice and tight. Lengthwise, I don't think you would need to get them hemmed

Kirkland white Ts from Cosco have been my go to for a while. Heavy duty, long fit,  they don't get the shemp neck and Schneider sleeves like the more disposable brands. Too bad they don't make black ones ...

Schneider as in Schneider from popular 70s/80s sitcom One Day at a Time.

he probably wears a white tee maybe once a week

at $5/shirt its not bad at like $260

your average skateboard shirt goes for $40 nowadays, so it boils down to ~6 shirts/year vs 52 /year + added enjoyment of wearing a crisp tee

id never do it, because its wasteful asf, but its not that bad financially

He buys/wears them in pairs so it’s $10 every single time he wants to wear a white t, imagine if you owned a butter shirt that you had to pay $10 every time you wore it, that’s nuts

Maybe just don’t skate in white ts and stretch them out to like 4 wears

I’m not hating because I’m shit with money but still yeah insane financial move

I used to love the Alstyle 1701.

Bought a bunch of them back in the days, went to their site now and couldn't find them... I guess they are Gildan now.

Anyone knows what the 1701 are called now? If they still exist...

$20 every weekend for 4 months…it’s not that expensive. It’s actually priceless to manifest a trick wearing exactly what makes you feel good and document it.

Gap Classic T in the Tall length, size Large is my favorite T for lightweight Ts.

https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=4407750020304&pcid=999&vid=2&searchText=classic+t#pdp-page-content

For heavyweight, I go with Enkalda, also in the Tall length, size Large.

Solid first post, gnarred for the first post.

Appreciating the info from everyone as always!

Side note: I was able to go to Costco yesterday (friend has a membership) and I looked for the famed Kirkland tees, but no dice ("Coming in January" I was told). So I picked up a three-pack of size M New Balance white tees on a whim to see how they'd fare, but like the other tees I've bought, they were too tight in the shoulders/chest, sleeves shorter than I prefer, and too long in height. From now on I take the advice of this thread and this thread only.

Target whites fit long. Can get 5 for less than 20. Good quality too.

I did not have the same experience with them fit wise . And I went up to XL and I’m 5’8. This was coming out of the pandemic and I was fat though. Can vouch for the quality though. They feel real nice mine just felt a little boxy after a wash or two .
